Is it possible to make a Seraphim build in GD?
The Seraphim from Sacred is one of my favourite classes in any ARPG, so I was thinking on how to replicate it in Grim Dawn. The seraphim is, for your info, is a female warrior angel who is graceful in combat, typically dual wielding swords, and with a bit of holy magic thrown in, mainly focused on lighting. Or in short; a duelist/paladin.

The alternatives would be soldier/inquisitor with sword and shield, inquisitor/shaman with two handed, or Nightblade/Inquisitor for dual wield. Dual wield is something I want badly, but that combination doesn't sound very effective, since the damage types in the Nightblade tree aren't what I'm looking for. Any ideas?

you know you can dualwield with any class if you get the proper item right? (dw melee lvl 25relic, dw pistols lvl25relic+lvl 20 chest i think)
so you don't "have" to be nightblade
dw lightning savagery warder is pretty fun while leveling (at least the first 60+ levels)
haven't tried inquisitor myself yet, so can't say anything to that, but dw "any class" seems pretty fun while leveling at least
(can't state for endgame "dw any-class" grind/farm/viability as i haven't reached that state yet, but leveling pre-80's is fun enough)

You can wield two weapons simultaneously as a Nightblade.

And there's a Shaman skill called Storm Totem that you might like.

But neither of those look particularly graceful to me. :NONPLUSSED_CREEP:

As was mentioned, there are items which enable dual wielding, so you can go with whatever combo floats your boat. Shaman will probably be an important choice, but you could do relatively anything with it, though I suggest looking through the official forums for a good dual wield lightning build.

Speaking from a "seraph" standpoint - dual wielding can be done with any class with the right items (for ranged, or melee), to make a "paladin" soldier maybe? Perdition's items kinda ring true. I'd say inquisitor only for the runes and stuff. But teeechnically, when you think more traditional. "rain down heaven" or "holy beam of light" - arcanist, +reckless power seems more true to it for me, altho lightning would be the shaman - shaman-y abilities. Just a few thoughts to consider ^.^

Apparently TZ Tz is the go-to guy for DW lightning builds. The first one is more melee oriented with the second relying slightly more on spells.

I used to play a lot of Sacred 1, but it's been a while so I'm not 100% sure about my memory here, but IIRC you could play her as melee, ranged, or magic, and the inquisiter in GD is about as close as you can get to her theme as far as ranged and magic go. The melee option, I dunno, but I don't think capturing her theme is as simple as just using lightning damage, especially since she also did a lot of fire damage I think. If you are talking about a later Sacred, I barely touched 2, it was too janky when it came out and I never got around to trying it again seriously, and I've memory blocked 3 for some reason.

I don't remember using fire, but she could conjure a weapon shooting holy bolts. Maybe that's what you remember. Anyway, since you can DW with any class (at lvl 25), I think the tactician would be a good idea, because the active combat skills are similar. I agree it's impossible to capture the theme though, so I could be a bit liberal when it comes to magic. Shaman mainly has lightning attack through weapon strikes, so that's not close. It also sounds boring with so many passive skills, that trigger randomly.

The Seraphim can indeed conjure a weapon that shoots holy bolts. You can combine both conjuring the weapon with some other skills (Archangel's Wrath, which is the spell that also contains fire element damage) so that those skills get the bonuses from the weapon as well. It's called the BFG by the way, named after the famed weapon from Doom.

She also has a chain lightning skill, ion beam coming from orbit and some melee expertise, although not nearly as many melee skills as some other classes in that game.

Considering she has both physical, lightning and fire aspects to her, you can at least rule out a couple of masteries for Grim Dawn. Necromancer and occultist are polar opposites of the Seraphim which leaves:

Soldier (Physical aspect only)
Demolitionist (Phys, fire and a bit of lightning)
Shaman (Phys, lightning)
Inquisitor (Physical, Fire AND lightning, but heavily focussed onto ranged)
Arcanist (Lightning but mostly dipped with cold and Aether so I'm inclined to rule out Arcanist)
Nightblade (Dual wielding, but elements (Cold, vit) aren't similar to Seraphim)

Tried a few different combos and finally settled on an inquisitor/shaman with savagery and spells. Using ranged weapons right now, since I didn't like the feel of melee in this game. It's not a seraphim, but it's fun to play. Might try demo for fire and lightning buff, with the help of a trainer. Thanks for all the replies. :)
