I think a good pick would be either Occultist or Shaman, because they're both have pet bonus skills.

for pure pet builds you should probably add shaman or occultist - both add more pets and some pet-related skills and there are items with pet related stats for both.

as an alternative, demolitionist is also a fairly strong pick - the "flame touched" aura adds lots of flat damage and OA which boosts pet damage signifcantly. also, burning skeletons lol

I think Demo is a strong pick if you are playing a summoner Necromancer. You have a fairly strong buff to your minions and loads of debuffs and CC. The high number of summons, in turn, should be great to counter the Demo's inherent squishyness.

All round great combination, imo!

I'm still gonna go with Necro/Occultist, though, because I prefer the plague-themed debuffs over the Demo's fire stuff, and because it seems to keep open the possibility of a vitality/chaos playstyle once I get bored with summoning my hordes :D

I've got to say, Crate did a great job with both the new classes.

If you want to be a melee "Magic Knight" sort of class, then Soldier or Shaman are pretty good.

For pet builds Occultist or Shaman. For lifesteal tank shenanigans, Soldier. I went Necromancer/Occultist because I adore pet builds, but I plan to make a Necromancer/Soldier to become an undying Death Knight.

Pure pet builds are boring powergaming. I don't understand how someone could even consider it. If your pets do all the damage, you don't have to do anything but resummon them. Gives me depression just thinking about it.

Pure pets builds rarely have less than 3 spells to be casting even midgame. the truelly boring powergaming build is a retal warder

I'm going for Occultist. So far I just open a fight with Curse of Frailty and let the skeletons wreck, but I'm insanely early game with this so take that for what its worth.

Ocultist for hp boost, full poison resistances and enemy vitality reduction. Best choice if you want to buff your pets in my opinion.

Not to metetion hellfire for chaos flat damage and if you go the lost souls set, you get twin hellhounds
