Number of Deaths?
I'm curious what some of your death counts are (non hardcore obviously)? I created a Reaper that is 90% Nightblade. I've gotten to level 91 with him working through the final parts of Malmouth in Elite and have done the first act and gotten to the Rovers camp in Ultimate. At this point, I have 154 deaths with I'd say 15 - 20 of those from the Crucible. Another 10 - 15 came at one time against that very difficult Nemisis boss that turns into more, smaller versions of itself each time it dies. I had just gained a level before running into him so I took advantage of not losing experience with each death and cheesed it.

I know Nightblades tend to be the glass cannons of this game so with that in mind, I'm just curious if I'm trending average on deaths or not compared to some of the rest of you.

Thanks!

I play hardcore, but it seems to be a high number to me, as I haven't lost nearly that many characters during my time playing this game. Although that is skewed as I dont have a whole lot of late game experience (I switch between builds a lot) I could be wrong on that being a high number of deaths though, as everyone is different.

This is the highest level character I have ever had. Before this, I had a lvl 79 but the rest tend to be around 50 - 60 as I too end up starting over and trying something new. I built a Warder that was retaliation focused and took it to 65 and he only has deaths from the Crucible. I go until I die there. But, I must say this Reaper is one of the funner builds I've used. Lots of action with diving in with Shadow Strike and popping around the screen with it.

Going to Homestead in Elite right now and I have 5 deaths. One was Solael's Guardian in Broken Hills before I had Chaos Resist. The other 4 were because of death zones.
i had like 10 deaths on my first toon clearing base game on veteran
then expansion came and i got like 40deaths in AoM vet alone
from elite-ultimate it looks like i got another 20-30 deaths on that toon, totalling 81 deaths on my Blademaster lvl 100 (only toon that high),
and a bunch of those were lazy casual deaths -because softcore
(like dying to aetherfire or ground stuff because not bothering to pay attention but just blitzing around) :claugh:

my 58 trickster on the otherhand only had 5 deaths in act1-4; 1death killing logh after expansion release, -i swear my char felt weaker now, killed him with np before
(and 3 of those other deaths were real stupid brainfarts lol)
while my squishy new purifier lvl 37 already has 3 deaths and just started act 3 (i don't like that death outlook so far rofl)

852 deaths with my warlock since nov 2013,i had a rough time back then and it was only until late into act 4 that i start getting less deaths, around half of those on boss fights,1/4 in crucible and the other quarter du to inatention or stupid deaths lol

I've earned another 10 tonight against Shaper of Flesh in Elite. I have to get in close to do any damage and he just one shots me with that lightning attack or whatever it is that shoots out and comes back to him. I have 80% resists on everything but seems it isn't enough. Guess I'll just have to put him off for a little bit longer and move on to Ultimate.

I have around 81 deaths on my ranged firestrike commando which is by far my most played toon. Level 90 and just entered ugdenbog. Had around 9 days of playing time on that toon pre expansion. Most of the deaths are pre expansion from crucible, aether ground, nemesis(fabius) and the sentinel on ultimate.
My level 98 physical blademaster has around 30 deaths after finishing AoM comtent on ultimate. Had 22 pre expansion.
SS Witch hunter level 65 act 4 on elite 2 deaths (from aetherground). Haven't done any AoM content.
DW lightning trickster level 86. Around 30 deaths as well. Act 3 on ultimate.

Most of my playing time was pre expansion as I had around 600 hours before AoM and only about 660 now. Can't recall the exact number of deaths I'm on mobile.

I'm just curious... how many of your deaths do you think were preventable? The type of deaths in which your fighting a much higher level boss, the fight is taking too long, you get impatient and when the boss is at 5% health you think you can finish him quick, and bam your dead.

My characters rarely if ever die. The biggest issue I may encounter is my outdated hardware, so at some points I may get framedrops that cost my character a life.
My low number of deaths is mostly due to the fact that I don't take unnecessary risks. I more or less know when I can overcome a challenge relatively safely, so my strategy always circles around optimizing my character every few levels once I notice that the fights get tougher and I cannot kill things quickly enough any more.

Most of the deaths were avoidable. Maybe except those ine the crucible were both iron maiden and fabius spawned. Otherwise most of my deaths were due to inattention. My first toon had far more deaths as I was still learning the game and didn't have enough gear. Most of those were avoidable too I suppose. On my BM I'd say that more than half of its deaths were due to hitting reflective mobs and consequently getting nuked by internal trauma damage. Totally avoidable when being patient and paying enough attention.

I have a 58 sorcerer and finished the main story and about halfway through Ashes of Malmouth and have 49 deaths, and I have a 28 necro/occultist with 0 deaths. Why the difference? Because the more you play this game the more you learn, My sorcerer isn't dying at all now and I just finished Bastion of Chaos. That's what I like about this game, you can make mistakes and fix them by re-spec and adjusting your gear. It's hard sometimes but never feels unfair.

I guess I die more than most. This is why I don't do hardcore :)

I think everyone can attribute about half of their deaths to being stupid. Several of my deaths were because after I put up my wards on the second action bar I forgot to shift back to my first action bar, and in the next fight I was hitting 1-2-3-4 to flash freeze and toss grenado and whatever else, instead I was bringing down Maiven's and Vindictive Flame. :p

My first char, also blademaster has about 250 deaaths. I think i died about 30 times just trying to kill mosilauk without any stun/ressistance and such... barelly managed to kill him then...

But i learned. my newer chars have 10-30 deaths each, i don't try to minimize deaths too much, so.

Just started ultimate with my tactician and so far 1 death only to chupacabra (the beast nemesis - spelling ?) and that was cause i got cocky and blitzed into a death trap.

154 is high very high, but then if its your first time through you dont have the luxury of found gear etc someone like me has so i wouldnt worry to much, also nightblades are made of paper haha
