Main damage type is cold. I also do piercing and vitality dmg. I DON'T intend to keep keep both vit+ and piercing+... But I haven't decided which one I'll keep yet.
My built is based around ShadowStep and Bone Harvest.
I had a hard time in my 20's, but I am now starting to deal massive damage with BoneHarvest (around 20,000).
I went for the Kraken asap and I had to go through that dude-constellation just right of the Kraken, which has some good Cold dmg boosts as well.
To get my "green" to get high enough to open the said "dude", I completed the... Bat, I think (Vit+).
In blue, I completed Tsunamy and I can't remember which other.
Now, I'm aiming south. There are some constellations in the certer-ish bottom of the screen with Cold+ or Elemental+ which I'm going to go for now.
Necromancer life-leech proc from top-left skill + the skill completly up-right of Necro's skill list + the last upgrade to bone harvest... Should be plenty of life leech for now.
That defenssif passif
Ve ability from Nightblade, bottom left, is a must.
I play this toon coop with a pet-necromancer friend.
In the 20's, for a while, I was running behind him. Having trouble to stay alive and/or dealing damage. But since my 30's, I started being able to one-shot waves of enemies with b.harvest and I'm now able to face-tank most 'bosses' with all the life leech and all.

could use some more mythical stuff, but otherwise i'd consider him finished. late ultimate levels were a bit rough due to outdated gear and monster scaling, but other than that it was a walk in the park.
picked the devotions for utility, mostly. kraken is a must (imo) for a 2H build. murmur is too good to pass up (and very easy to get if you unlocked kraken and viper). behemoth (first 3 nodes) is never wrong if you're going into the red/green part of the constellation map.
i went with rattosh as my ultimate devotion. gives a good chunk of health and the life leech resistance reduction works great when a build has a reliable source of life steal for sustain.
maticore vs. elemental storm is a toss up. i went with manticore because it does RR vs. all resistances and the build has quite a few different damage types besides the main direction (cold). elemental storm would only help cold/frostburn whereas manticore also buffs the cit, decay, acid, poison, aether, pierce and bleed damage you end up with (some of them are kinda negligible, though)
chariot is nice if you have some points to spare and have a use for green and red. adds a nice chunk of OA (always good) and a somewhat useful defense proc at the end.
crane is just as a prerequisite for rattosh (needs 6 yellow). bring but useful (adds some resistances). same for empty throne (especially the stun res is good - fairly rare stat and very useful for a build that relies on life steal to some degree - if you get stunned too long, you're dead)
the build itself is mostly down to my preference. i wanted to try a build around nuke spells ratehr than boring auto attacks, so i dumped most of the leftover points into ABB and ring of steel after maxing all the essentials. could also max shadow strike instead or put them into the 1st modifier of bone harvest or whatever.
core elements are lethal assault and soul harvest. both add large quantities of weapon damage which powers the fairly strong main attacks. pburst skill line is sort of mandatory for any useful nightblade build and veil of shadows/nights chill also makes sense for a build that uses mostly cold damage.
i played with harbinger of souls as exclusive skill most of the time (the one with life steal), but later switched to master of death after i got the soulrend (which conveniently comes with 12% life steal anyway). both are pretty bad, tbh. master of death at least gives lots of OA and some DA. always good to have
don't remember the exact sequence of how i levelled him, but i think i maxed lethal assault early and then soul harvest. everything else is secondary. with those 2 skills, damage goes up very fast very early, so most of the veteran and elite playthrough you're an overpowered juggernaut that oneshots most stuff while flying through the content. kinda fitting for the reaper
i guess :)
by the time you hit ultimate, the build will be mostly finished and its down to what equipment you can find. . if you get some good stuff, it will still be somewhat easy. i farmed the soulrend from elite steps of torment. got very lucky, got it on the 3rd or 4th run i think. totally worth the effort. the weapon is godly for this build.
