kill ulgrim?
What happens if you kill him are game end?

As a melee dual wielder 85 lvl / 65 item lvl character (pierce Nightblade), I could facetank it on Elite with:
- max elemental/pierce resistances (80), mostly from reputation augments
- 12k hp
- 800-1000 armor (dunno if it matters)
- a few survivability skills, stats: ~10% leech; a heal skill (extra besides potion, ex: Pneumatic Burst (Nightblade) or Word of Renewal (Inquisitor)); Tip the Scales devotion + Scourge talisman (both do insane self heal, even if my build has no +% vitality damage, besides the bonus from talisman); Turtle Shell devotion
- no shield (obviously, I was dual wielding), and no otherwise "tanky" build

The biggest risk with 12k hp is to get stunlocked but I killed it in 2nd attempt. My "logs" say I was never hit for more than 5k, but that was from before this boss. It has 3 million hp, and you have to bring it to 0 (which it is shown as half hp bar).

Extra tips:
- Get a bit familiar with Nightblade skills (that's his skillset). Avoid his Blade Barrier which has huge cd (I saw him use it only once; just move away from him and dps his shadows while it is up).
- AOE his Living Shadows down for extra leech damage, but don't bother killing them, because they'll despawn anyway (see Living Shadow devotion for extra info; but his shadows are not invulnerable).
- Save your potion for when you are stunned if you go dangerously low; it is the only thing that can heal you while stunned. Use everything else while you are up and about.
- Don't be afraid to run away a bit, then chase him back when he "goes back to reset" if you have potion CD. I have no idea if he really resets when he reaches the starting position though, but if you die, it does reset and you can talk to him again, and start the fight again.
- It can be slowed from cold damage, and I think that decreases his dmg output a lot. My talisman did some cold dmg and I saw him getting slowed at one point.
- It's best to have a few instant dmg skills from augments/components that you can cycle through. With ~10% leech (3% from Toad devotion, 3% from Scales of Ulcama, and 4% from Scourge talisman), each skill restored me back to full hp (mostly from 75% to 100%). I had 4 damage skills (including the one from talisman), and an autoattack skill.

Try to kill him on Normal or Veteran. You need lvl 100 full geared char of cource.

I'm guessing you would level a character to normal Loghorrean, go straight to elite and continue to 100. And then go back to normal AoM.

I had planned on doing this eventually. But only when I get bored of doing other stuff.

You can, just skip DLC content on Normal or Veteran and start this when you already have lvl 100 char.

Yeah, some of my friends are unable to proceed their story because of it. First Blade of the empire is no joke.

farm to level 100 without playing dlc will be very boring?

First time I try kill him was on ultimate and see I have no chance now so I run away and take teleport out and think wtf have I destroy game now :(

I have lvl 85 hardcore warder before expansion. I think i can try to kill Ulgrim on normal, because my warder still don't see any DLC content. I can start story on every difficulty.
