In term of exp gain, I don't think there is much difference since most exp comes from quest completion.

I play mostly on veteran nowadays. More fun with heroes.

I play on Veteran. Issue is it makes the later difficulties easier since you get stronger in Veteran.

i mostly play on ultimate, tbh. getting a new toon through the first difficulty is just the "warmup". i usually start on normal. once the build is starting to come together i switch over to veteran.

that may be the point where the main attack is maxed out, or the point where i collected enough devotion points to unlock some damage devotion that gives a big push in kill speed. or getting to level 35 and getting access to some faction items that are a lot better than the random drops i had up to that point.

1st time playthrough all normal, now started to get the grasp of Grim Dawn, I prefer with Veteran mode switch on.

Always veteran, never tried normal!

I suppose normal is for ppl unfamiliar with ARPGs. You can also play it for the story and base game knowledge.

I like normal just because it zips you through the first playthrough faster... elite is when the "warm-up" is over and the real game starts in my mind... I mean, you don't really get any good item drops until elite anyway...

go veteran, espacially for beguinner, you can get better drops and more exp, and if its too hard you can always go back to normal

Yeah I started in normal because a friend said veteran sucked.
But afterwards I made veteran myself and it was much harder but more loot more mobs more fun. So I don't see why anyone would want to play the boring normal mode.

Looks like Veteran is the winner.
I actually leveled the same toon on normal and veteran next to eachother.. played on normal with my friend and when he was offline I played on veteran. And I could just notice that my Veteran char was higher level, and muuuch better geared than the other char that was at the same part in the questline. Actually the char on normal got most of his gear from my friend -_- because I didnt find ♥♥♥♥. And on Veteran it was just tons and tons of items and much easier to gear yourself.

I started my first character on normal, since I had no clue about game mechanics; I switched him to veteran around level 20, once I knew what was what. The others I just started on veteran from the start. Veteran isn't all that much harder than normal, just maybe a few more heros to whack.

And yeah, veteran = gear drops out the wazoo.

Isn't the speed of progression more or less the same? Or are you saying that you skip certain parts now, since you have been through it a number of times?

Well part of it is that I know which areas I don't have to explore but the other thing is the OA and DA of enemies in vet make them take longer to kill even if it is only by a little bit

Ah, so total in game time is a factor for you. OK, that's pretty much not a concern for me, being retired.

Same, veteran is way too easy as well. I think they've tuned down the overall difficulty of this game too much. Gets me bored quite fast.
