Blade arc
I'm using Cadence as my main melee with my Battlemage. I was looking at the Blade Arc skill. If I learn this skill, would this kick in automatically when I use Cadence? It looks like I need to bind it to a key, which suggests that it's a separate skill entirely and won't combine.

It is a separate skill which isn't a default attack replacer, meaning it won't proc Markovian's Advantage and the like. You can however use it as your left-click attack and it's hits really hard with the transmuter (5 sec cooldown).

Bummer; was hoping it was additive to default attack. Third hit with Cadence does some huge damage.

What is transmuter?

They modify how the skill works. In case of Blade Arc, it massively increases damage at the cost of adding cooldown.

the skill nodes with the green icons that don't just add some effect but change the way the skill works are called transmuters.

for example "clean sweep" is the transmuter for blade arc. it changes blade arc from a spammable skill to a cooldown skill, but makes it hit (and crit) much harder.

OK, so assuming I get Clean Sweep also, I could do something like use Blade Arc, switch to Cadence, then use Blade Arc again after the third Cadence hit?

Sure, it's pretty common to use Cadence as your left-click and Blade Arc as right-click, especially after you get Deadly Momentum (Cadence line).

Really? How do you have enough points to max both?

+skills items are pretty useful in this game. ;)

With that said, I've never maxed Blade Arc, not even on a character that uses it as a left-click. It's powerful enough with ~10 points in it (mobs die fast, anyway) and you can easily get there with +skills. Also, Fighting Form scales pretty badly so I leave it at one point. That leaves enough points to focus on Cadence and Deadly Momentum. The same principle applies to Savagery/Primal Strike combo, Savagery/Blade Arc, Cadence/Forcewave, etc.
