Yep also thinking that.
The 'big' minimap should be the standard one if anything.
That's not really an argument and could be applied to just about anything.
There should be some quality of life option that lets you traverse maps without using binoculars or playing with the central 60% of the screen missing.
It's js a shame there isn't such a feature or a scaleable UI & shape setting specifically for the minimap.
He can increase the UI Scale. That will increase the scale of all elementes of the UI though (including the mini map).
It's in Options > Video
Look for a slider called UI Scale and play around wiht it. The effect is immediate, and you can see how big or small the UI will get as you move the slider left and right.
