Should help quite a lot.
1+ points in curse of frailty, you want max in the end, to boost your damage, pet damage and slow down mobs.
Pump Physique the most, at least half your points, preferably more.
Put around 4 into Blood of Dreeg to heal pets and you for a small amount.
No matter how good defensive things like flashbang or the Raven heal sound, you will stay alive far longer by killing faster. 50 points in flashbang/raven heal/etc don't equal 5 points in Hellhound.
Bloody Pox for example; take all those points out and put them into Doom Bolt. Doom Bolt is a small aoe, but timed right you can't decimate tough enemies, or even kill 8+ weak mobs at a time, when they bunch up around your Hellhound. A small reduction in health and waiting while Pox ticks for damage can't equal the huge raw damage of Doom Bolt (unless you are built around it, and have the gear).
Blood of Dreeg is one of the best skills in the game, you want some points there instead.
I also agree with taking a lot of those points out of the Bloody Pox line 17 points in it at lvl 25 is a waste imo. You don't have near enough offense to kill stuff.
Doom Bolt is powerful it has extremely long range and can one shot small to medium sized groups. especially good for assassinating little annoying groups of casters and archers in the back. I have it overcharged at 22/12.
Physique IS the main stat to pump, you probably don't want to put more than 5-10 points each into Cunning or Spirit. I've never played a pet build, so I can't speak as to those, but generally, you want to invest 50 points in the mastery of one of your classes ASAP, this gives you stats, health, and energy, making your character more survivable overall. If you don't plan on playing past the first difficulty, this is more optional.
Gear is important, which is another reason to invest deeply into physique, so you can wear heavier armor. Have you crafted a relic? Those can boost your power level considerably.
The first response to you about kiting/pulling is good advice in general, you can probably find a guide to these things on YouTube or just doing an internet search for 'How to Kite gaming' or 'How to pull gaming', something similar. In a nutshell, when you see enemies (sometimes referred to as creeps from MOBA games, or mobs from older games) in the distance, sneak up on them so they don't all become aware of you at once, then run back INTO A PLACE YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN, so that a few of them will follow you, kill those, then go pull some more.
As for fighting heroes, one big mistake people often make is standing still. A lot of mobs will drop area of effect attacks on the ground, and standing in them will make you take damage unnecessarily. Pay attention and keep moving. A lot of melee mobs will have tells for certain attacks, for instance, a certain troll hero in Smuggler's Passage, I believe it is called, will telegraph a big overhead swing, so you can see it coming, Run away.
The most helpful thing for me was to learn about prioritizing physique and investing in class Masteries, concerning Grim Dawn specifically, as I was already aware of pulling and remaining mobile.
Hope some of this information is helpful, have fun.
Just go try new builds.
Also bloody pox is good at clearing out trash crap but bad at damaging the more deadly enemies as champions and bosses are immune to life reduction.
ehm nope bloody pox is a monster against everything, but it needs more then just the skill alone
fevered rage + retaliation and reflect and watch bosses melt
And you have to put a good third in masteries.
What is left has to be put in build defining and necessary skills, and most of the time, there isnt even enough.
Maxed out raven line is not so bad, but the cost is horrible for what it does.
On the other side, it is the only pet that does its job in late difficulties without any investment in pet skill and 1 point is enough.
