Finding epic (set) items I'm currently wearing multiple times
When I started with Grim Dawn 2 years ago or so, I already noticed this but now I started a new character and it keeps happening:

I find an item and I'm wearing it or I start wearing an item from my other char and suddenly, one of the next 40 or so epic items is the exact same item, just with a few different numbers on stats.
That's increasingly annoying when I'm wearing a set piece and instead of finding other pieces of this set I find the same set piece twice more.

That has to be a bug right? What are the chances that I keep finding this exact item again and again instead of another one?
And if it's not a bug it's at least something to think about. It''s just annoying.

There's no info from the devs, but I assume that the Epics/Legendaries have weighted drop chances, i.e. some will drop more frequently, certain others will be very rare.

I've also found lots of the same item, but I just Dismantle them at Darlet for Components or crafting material.

You can try trading with other players for the set items you want. I think it's very, very rare to find an entire set on your own, I've played a lot and don't have a single complete set. It's also because once you go past a certain enemy level, lower-leveled set Epics don't drop anymore.

Okay I understand, so the drop changes vary even in the same set? So for instance, the chest piece drops more frequently than let's say the boots? That would explain this at least.

Instead of trading with other player(s) I can easily create the item I'm missing with a savegame editor but that's not the point of a loot based ARPG I think.
But trading with other players is basically the same thing only more annoying. And in Grim Dawn I can't even be sure that the other player did not just create it with a savegame editor too.
That you did not find one set on your own is somehow a little demotivating.

Well, I noticed, which may only apply to my personal experience, though, that all of my characters tend to find specific items over and over. Interestingly, each character has a different range of items they find again and again.
Characters finding the same items multiple times within the same session has been an acknowledged issue before, but it was fixed quite some time ago. The fix certainly does not prevent you from finding the same items multiple times across sessions.

If someone wants to trade, doesn't it by itself say that he isn't cheating items?
He could just give himself the item he wanted and not waste time searching for someone to trade with for it.

Yes, I guess you've got a point here. There shouldn't be nothing to worry about when trading.
But I guess I'm just not a big trader.

That's very interesting. That's exactly what happend to me in the "Steps of Torment" a few minutes ago.

I've completed the "Steps of Torment" and on this run I've found two "Oathbreaker's Guard" of the set "Oathbreaker".

It's only a two piece set and the game throws a duplicate at me in just two floors of a "rouge like" dungeon. That's just completely useless and can't be intended like that.

I got 3 brimstone rifles on one of my characters between a few levels. There are also these boots that drop around the same level that give that stomp skill. I have 2x of them on all my characters. In the 20-35 level range I have doubles of tons of epics but have no complete set.
