Best farming spot for Tainted brain Matter?

Not very far in the game yet (call me strange but I'm just "farming" levels cause I want to be super op before I move on with the main story). Now just crafting some relics and need Tainted Brain Matter. I tried farming the first boss - Warden a lot, I'd say at least 20 - 30 runs and no luck so far. I'm level 48 and still in act 3. I'm playing normal - Veteran. Yea I know I play very slowly, just doing a lot of farming Steps of Torment etc.

Conflagration I think is a good place since it has plenty of Aetherials, but Warden is faster for farming. And you can always salvage the blue and purple items you find on your way through.

Actually you could just go further to one of the last areas there will be a smith which can craft Tainted Brain matter with Blood of Ch'thon.

Last I checked, brains stop dropping if you out-level what you're killing by too much. Be sure you're not overleveled for what you're trying to farm for them.

Tainted Brain Matter is a crafting material.

It can be looted from Aetherials and Aether Corruption Heroes and Bosses.

For hearts, eyes, blood, and brains, just go to Deadman's Gulch and crack open the trove there. It always drops one of those mats and other loot.

Take note that if you outlevel the enemy a lot, material such as Tainted Brain Matter won't drop from them.

That was probably why you couldn't get any from the Warden.

The sealed chests you have to dynamite open.

I'm sorry; I realised I should have elaborated after posting my comment, but was too lazy to edit it.

I meant, where is there a trove in Deadman's Gultch? I'm only aware of the small side area halfway between where the aether begins and the locked gate, though I wasn't even aware of that until I read your comment and went back to explore. Is the trove in the area behind that gate? I looked it up on the wiki, and it appears to stay locked until some point in Act 4.

It seems the OP is around the same level of progress as I am, so the gate remains locked. Also, aren't those chests one-time only, making them irrelevant for farming?

No, treasure troves respawn. You're probably thinking of one-shot chests.

Most (maybe all?) troves have one of several locations they can spawn in, so they're not always in the same place. There is a guide with all locations in the guides section here on Steam.

[edit] Also, thanks to Old Iron Johnson for mentioning Deadman's Gultch. Cracked a beer and spent like half-an-hour collecting some good materials. That's a nice quick spot for that.

Mountain deeps or whatever Ikrix's hideout is called, either in two spots along the left side of the map, or near the center between the two large gaps in the level.
