How to level up "living shadow" and what to attach it to?
So I currently have it attached to execution. What I'm curious about is when it is activated does it level just off of the damage it alone does, or is it the damage done by both of us combind?

Also, I play as a nightblade, is there a better skill then execution to attach living shadow to?

living shadow requires a critical hit to proc. so it's usually a good idea to attach it to a skill that hits multiple targets. ring of steel, shadow strike (with nightfall) or whirling death are good candidates.

i don't think they have to do any damage to level up. i've often seen devotion skills level up when i just turn in some quests, so i think they just level up from the experience gain of the character. i guess they would even level up when you don't attach them to a skill at all.

Correct.. They level from all experience sources. However, they do need to be attached to a skill.
Thank you very much for the helpfull replies guys <3
Hey that's cool, I didn't lose my exp when switching from execution to ring of steel! I swear it didn't used to be like that...I can remember playing a couple years ago and switching and having to start from level 1 again.

On a side note, do you guys know why some people don't use all of their attribute points? I've seen some videos and these guys are level 85 and have like 15-20 points unused...seems strange not to just put the extra in physique or whatever, any idea why they do this?

I've been playing since before devotions were released, and they've never lost experience. You can even respec out of a constellation entirely and it will still keep its experience.

probably because they dumpes all other points in physique and keep some points unspent just in case they find an item that requires more spirit or cunning.

Yeah that's entirely possible. I was probably just worried at the time that that's how it worked, then stopped playing for a long time. Anyways I'm glad that's how it is!
