Improved usage of mules
There's already a topic regarding storage, http://steamcommunity.com/app/219990/discussions/0/133260492055717926/, but I feel that this could be a topic on its own.

We can all agree that we have several ways to increase the amount of items that we save. Either with mules, a stash mod or switching transfer.gst files (which is explained in the other thread). I don't like either of those options - yeah I'm picky like that. I'm currently using mules, but I've reached a point where I've saved more 1-handed melee weapons than a single mule can hold. I could create another mule for the same item-type, but it's already tedious as it is, and I would rather delete some of my current mules than create additional ones. Sure I could discard some items to temporarily solve my issue, or just overall change my playstyle and become less of a hoarder, but I've thought of a different idea:
I could stick to using mules and somehow add inventory bags to them. It would increase the inventory of each mule by a lot. Is that doable? Like with a mod, a program or manually editing the character file somehow. I've tried doing it previously, with a third-party program that can edit characters (some console application, forgot it's name), but I couldn't make it work.

Does anyone have any tips on how to do this? And does anyone have any experience with doing it?

I'm currently in the Grim Dawn No Cheat Clan, so I'll discuss it with them at some point, whether this is considered cheating or not. In other words, it's not relevant in this thread. I haven't edited any of my characters yet, so don't kick me out yet guys lol.

I'm aware that the expansion will extend the storage, but I'd like to solve my storage issue earlier than that.

Sigh...just use GD Stash or Item Assistant. They AREN'T cheating. Storing items ISN'T cheating. Using mules is the EXACT same thing.

Have to agree with Dan. You are purposefully making it harder on yourself by ignoring the available options that would literally and instantly resolve your issue, picky or not.

I don't consider it cheating and only the most anal, literal person would. And who wants anything to do with that guy anyway?

I don't know of any mods that would give you storage bags, much less alot of them, which sounds like you would run into huge search issues when looking for items even if you could.

Mods like that are legal in the clan I'm in. I dislike using them for other reasons. But yeah sure, I might end up doing it anyway some day down the road, so thanks for mentioning the names of the mods.

Yeah OK, maybe a mod can't do it. What I'm probably looking for is something that directly edits a character, unless I've overlooked another option.

It's not even considered cheating in the grim dawn no cheat group. :D

You said you weren't sure... lol

It says so in the main group page...

As for your clan saying it's not considered cheating... I don't know what your "clan" is... Dunce added back

We're talking about the same group/clan. It's a steam group that calls itself a clan, so the misunderstanding is understandable heh.

I'm sure. I was talking about adding bag slots, when I said I wasn't sure if it was cheating. My main question is about mules and editing a character - stash mods are less relevant as I'm currently not interested in using them.

Aye, my bad, I honestly wasn't sure what you were talking about. Sorry for being a douche in my previous response.

Sadly, I don't think there's really any way to handle this just by editing a character. There could likely be through modding but the issue then comes of sharing those stored items from the modded characterx and the vanilla characters. It'll be tedious, time consuming and a constant chance losing items sometimes swapping saves from the mod to vanilla and from vanilla to mods just to be able to share the inventory since mod saves are saved separately from vanilla saves. Unless someone was to write a third party application to handle such things. In which case...

The best option sadly would be to use the third party stash applications such as GD Stash and whatnot.

NP. Yeah you could be right. That definitely sounds tedious. Oh well, it was just an idea.
