Devotion vs Devotion
Hello there, I am kinda new to the game and I was wondering what Devotions shall I take for my summoner. Eldritch Fire / Flame Torrent vs Guardian's Gaze / Scorpion Sting. Currently got Shepher's Call, Bysmiel's Command, Raven and Jackal.

It depends on whether your build focuses on poison or chaos damage. For you see, Grim Dawn is about stacking certain damage types into stratosphere, just like Titan Quest is. I haven't tried poison builds yet but the Flame Torrent doesn't have much range so if you prefer to play at range, the proc is probably going to waste. I love it on my Witchblade, though. :FireStrike:

Well stacking a damage type doesn't really affect pets I guess.

If your intending on a pure pet build with very little actual player damage dealt id go with the right hand side of the devotion tree as it has more survivability and retaliation for your pets, the left hand side tends to buff the their damage more, my pure summoner is 52 on elite and his pets literally never die, unless i explode them

Guardian's Gaze and Scorpion Sting get you closer to Mogdrogen the Wolf. Chose them hands down. Damage type isn't that important on summoners, there are hardly any worthwhile specific elemental damage pet buffs and a plethora of pet all damage and attack speed buffs. So it comes down to where you want to go with devotion, and Mogdrogen is too good to pass up. (make sure to pick up Manticore too)

I went Mog as well, undying was only other i saw that might work and its a different direction. If you head Mog your path is pretty much set for yah. Pet buffing ones...the ones yah got .. then manticore..mog....all spent.

We will get some more devotion points with expac . i havnt rly thought whats next for pet build but even with more pts i dont see this build changing much in the devotions.

so this...

They scale with pet bonuses when on pets HOWEVER the tooltip will change with player damage bonuses (the tool tip is wrong). Trust me though, its definitely pet bonuses (or don't trust me and test it on targeting dummies. Its an easy test with 1 pet out, just toggle on/off an aura with pet stats, best on a dot proc so you can pull your pet off and easily see the numbers).

If you put flame torrent on pets then it will proc on the pet and not on yourself meaning it is very good for summoning, especially the hellhound.

Cheers, Stalima. I haven't gotten into full-on pet builds (yet), I will keep that in mind. ;)
