Someone please explain the yellow bar over the health?

As the title suggests

It's Constitution, it's sort of like 'reserve HP' that regenerates when you're out of combat. When you run out, you stop regenerating until you eat Food Rations of Vital Essence or eat some delicious, nutritious Soup.

tl;dr
It's called constitution. When you are hurt and have not received damage in a certain amount of time that bar will be consumed to heal you.
