Though for areas well below your level (the skeleton dungeon comes to mind, later in the game) to run through even to get to the dungeon, I admit it can be a bit tedious.
Still, if you're dying too many times you probably aren't going to have any keys left anyway. They take a lot of stuff to craft that only drops slowly over time after all. Though maybe on higher difficulties it isn't so tough.
