By default Steam Cloud saving is enabled.

If you have Steam and can get online on both computers just keep Steam Cloud saves on and you will always have your progress from either computer.

If you want to transfer saves manually and not get overwritten by Steam Cloud saves, you will need to disable it.

Thanks, it was switched off for some reason, activated it now. But its said that it only works in games which support it.

Do you see a folder with your character's name there? If so, that's the spot. You could just copy the entire \My Games\Grim Dawn\ folder as well. It's not that large.

Has this changed? When I go to to save location nothing is there. The cloud was also turned off before installing.

Saves are found in Steam\userdata\folder of numbers\219990. The my documents location, must be for the GOG version or something.

The Documents/My Games location is the local save location for BOTH the Steam and GoG versions. The Steam user data directory is the Steam Cloudsaving location Steam uses as an intermediary to boot saves to for upload to the cloud.

The my documents save folder, has no saved character info in it on my system. Only the userdata folder does.

Then it would appear that you have cloudsaving enabled.

Actually, cloud synchronization in Steam is unchecked. Yes it appears cloud saving is enabled in game and that explains why all my characters disappeared, when I disabled it one time. The game starts pointing to my documents at that point

There is 2 places to enable/disable cloudsaving in GD, unfortunately. One is in-game. The other is in the GD Steam properties, accessible by right-clicking GD in your library and selecting Properties. Disable them both to ensure it is truly disabled. Be sure to move your saves to the appropriate location afterwards or they won't be visible in-game.
