How do I fix the music?
I guess I accidentally killed too many nightopians in my first playthrough, and now the music is botched for pretty much every level. Do you get it back to normal simply by hatching as many new Nightopians as you can, or is there something else I can do? I already hatched as many as I could find in Splash Garden but I still can't get the normal song. These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s are breaking up my pursuit of high scores.

Have you tried to hatch unreachable eggs by walking around as the kids? That's what I did back in the Saturn days.

Thanks, the solution did turn out to be simply hatching eggs. I'm slowly getting it back to normal.

There are four mood levels for the Nightopians: Cheering, Happy (the default), Content and Angry. Each music track is broken into several sections from beginning to end, and each section has 4 different versions corresponding to the 4 different moods.

When you change the mood of a Nightopian, it will change the mood of the currently-playing section of music (on the next play-through, not immediately). Nightopians are made less happy by: Killing them with Paraloops, drill-dashing past them, meeting Nightmaren or Mepians. Nightopians are made happier by hatching eggs and defeating Nightmaren.

If you hatch too many eggs, you'll end up with the Cheering version of the music; you need to make them happy, but not too happy, to get the original music.

In the Saturn version, A-Life data (the Nightopians' current state) is stored in a separate file to the main progress/high score data, and you could reset the music just by deleting this file. After I asked more or less the same question yesterday, I had a look around to see if the same was true in this version, but unfortunately it seems that A-Life data is stored together with progress data in the same file ( Steam\SteamApps\common\NiGHTS Into Dreams\Nights.sav ).
