a bit different to control, but you use the WASD keys to move around in the sky and the J button to attack by speeding ahead into foes. thats how to control NiGHTS anyway for the basics

And use a controller. The game was made for it, and only having 8 directions on a keyboard makes it much more difficult

If your also asking about play style.

Side scroller kinda thing that looks and trys to play kinda 3D. Boss fights kinda mix it up a bit.

Also to progress further into the story, you gotta raise your score I think? I just remember when I played back on Sega Saturn, and there was stopping point and didnt let me go further.
