Isn't this game.. Creepy?
This game is great, I won't lie. It may be tricky sometimes, but it's really creepy. The saturn version gives me bad creeps but like, Breeding meeps or whatever there called is creepy.. They look creepy. The CGI is bad, and it overall looks creepy. Your thoughts?

I've never gotten creepy vibes from NiGHTS personally, but if you didnt grow up during the 5th generation of gaming I could see how you could get creeped out by the CGI.

Its not that newer generations of gaming has better graphics its just that its like.. weird. like when i'm playing i constantly feel like i'm on crack and i'm in a fever dream. i absolutely love old gaming consoles and stuff but the stuff in NiGHTS makes me scared of surroundings. if i play an old game like NiGHTS i get weird feelings and get scared of games of its time period. and its really weird. like i get chills from games because it looks weird and scary kind of. i dont know how to explain it, but i have an awfully strange fascination for these old games but am scared of them??

I want to know what this is called because i cant explain it in full without sounding or looking like a crazy person.

Dreams are weird, surreal, creepy. And what are you doing in this game? Diving into dreams... :lunar2020playfuldog:

That's how 5th generation low-poly were.

Maybe, but being alone in the 5th generation of video games IS unsettling.

Yeah, I noticed that since I saw PSX demake of modern horror games and those Mario 64 creepypasta.

I'd say that this level creeped me out (with Statue) especially on the actual N64 because of the red sky, the troopers with their mask and ultimately because our imagination did most of the work here.

Some could compare it to how VHS makes horror movies better because of the low res (like Alien for exemple).

Personally, I've never played GoldenEye, but it looks fun, I've heard of the PSX, but have no idea what it is, and the VHS horror movie is definetly true.

I'm not sure what the term for that is, but there's something often unsettling about anachronistic settings. The Resident Evil games usually have settings where everything is not just run down but outdated, because for some reason that makes us extra uncomfortable, it just feels wrong.

The fifth generation of consoles was sort of a rough one, graphically. Lots of stuff in the uncanny valley, and often it was dull, sharp, and/or ugly. We went from gorgeous, colorful pixels to low-poly graphics. Personally, I like the look of Saturn NiGHTS; it's quite beautiful to me, especially compared to the rest of the generation, but I can see where it might be a little creepy to some.

I get being afraid but fascinated... I have submechanophobia, and I regularly read about or look up shipwrecks, which makes no sense since it's physically and mentally terrifying for me!

5th gen low poly is the best for horror.

What you are trying to describe is the Uncanny Valley feeling. @Sundrop!

Gen 5 had that.

And this is why I love it.
