How do the cubes work?
I started with Antichamber yesterday and it was really fun at first. But then i got to the "too many lasers" challenge and didnt know how to get through so i searched for the solution on youtube. The guy in the video increased the amount of cubes he had by drawing circles on the wall. Those circles filled themselves and i was like: "When did the game teach me that??".

Then i thought, ok maybe i just missed the part where the game explained this mechanic and moved on. After a while there was another dead end for me: "lighting the fuse". I checked Youtube again, and again the solution is based on a mechanic the game didnt show me.

So i hope someone can explain me how the block mechanic works, because its no fun to cheat through the game.

Also, if there is an explanation in the game please tell me where. I might just missed it

Do you have a gun at this point? If you do, what color?

The game indirectly teaches you each of the gun mechanics as you progress. everything is hinted at and very difficult to see what is actually happening, but it's based on pure observation and playing around with the cubes.

The mechanics are gained with each incremental gun, not with the cubes themselves.

Generally, if you can get to an area, then you're meant to be able to get to it - just play around and try to figure out how to progress; it's meant to be very confusing.

Minor spoiler ahead:

There are different guns and cubes with different color.
If you see cubes of a different color of your gun, you probably won't complete it until you get the newer gun. Once you get a gun of a certain color and replace it by a new one, you can still clear the cube-puzzle of the old color.

MAJOR SPOILERS. Sorry if this was just explained, but the blue gun places one cube at a time. the green gun adds the abilities to drag the cursor to place multiple cubes at once, and also can multiply if you make a hollow box in the wall. The yellow gun allows moving cubes somewhere temporarily, even regenerating ones. The red gun can multiply if you hold left click and middle click, and if you right click, it will collect all of those cubes. You need at least 2 cubes to endlessly multiply. The black gun is collected upon not finishing collecting the dark cube, and it is a black gun with parallel powers to the red gun. The dark gun is collected upon collecting the dark cube, and is required to complete Antichamber. The dark cube will land after being shot a short distance and will act like a big cube. You need to use this power to get to the ufo and win.

I also wonder where in the game the "Holes get filled in" mechanic is learned. I found it... somehow... but I cannot remember how. The game is exquisitely designed, so I'm sure there was some point or puzzle that somehow "tricked" me into learning it.

Anyone know where?

(Super intrigued from a puzzle-design standpoint.)

When youtube is done processing, here is where you are meant to learn it
