Stupid question on The Chase

Okay, I'm feeling like an idiot here. When you first go through the exit and up the stairs, the bouncy platform to get you to the next bit - I cannot seem to do it! Every time I try, the floor dissolves under me and I end up back where I started. Is there some sort of trick to jumping far enough? I even checked the wiki, and I'm pretty sure I'm doing exactly the same thing!

It depends which side you're trying to get to. Going forward (facing away from the window) should be no problem at all. Going backward (facing toward the window), you have to make sure you don't jump on the jump pad too much because it hitting the bottom will propel you too far upward and you'll end up hitting the ceiling before being able to arc yourself onto the landing. If it does hit the bottom, then you want to wait a very short period of time after it reaches the top before jumping, this will dissipate some of the momentum.

Hi and thanks! No, the video looks plenty clear - that's why I can't understand why I'm having so much trouble! It's the going backwards one I'm having problems with; I tried all the way down with the jump pad, I tried not quite to the bottom, I tried jumping to the center and jumping to the edge, and...it just never seems to work!

Are you hitting the ceiling, not going far up enough, or something else?

Once or twice I know I hit the ceiling; that's when I figured out not to jump so hard. Otherwise, I've no clue! I go up, I don't hit the ceiling, I'm at the level of the next floor, I start coming back down, I can see the next level...and then the floor keeps dissolving and I'm back where I started.

You need to actually move forward in the air (same as going to the other side)... You don't just jump straight up and land above.
