The negative:

The community can be unpleasant, but is generally forgiving and open to new players. There is a pretty steep learning curve, and the lack of a decent tutorial makes this worse. Balance and maps have improved, but I still find long, 3-4 hour stalemates fairly common in large matches.

The positive:

King Arthur's Gold is a truly unique experience. There's something for everyone in this game, whether you enjoy building massive fortresses, killing hordes of enemies, or role playing on a giant map with different races and factions. There is a decent competitive scene if you're into that sort of thing. Matches are usually full of people with mixed experience, so newer and more casual players can enjoy themselves as well. KAG is one of the most unique, addictive, and challenging games that I have ever played, and is definitely worth checking out.

All things considered, King Arthur's Gold is probably the best ten dollars I've ever spent on Steam.

The game is good, the admins are AWFUL. They're friends with people in the community, so basically if you tick off the wrong person get ready for a ban from the entire game. What's sad is even the staff members abuse their powers. Well done game, but worst community I've ever been a part of.

King Arthur's Gold is an incredible game. For capture the flag, the game kicks off with a building phase in which everyone harvests the resources and begins to errect fortresses, traps and shops. Then after the alloted time is up the fighting begins in which both sides struggle to controll the majority of the map and access to more resources to ensure well maintained and solid defenses against the opposing side.
The game structure not only allows but requires team work. The community is generally friendly. Physics based kills, sharks, seige weapons, warships and spiked pits makes for an amazing game.

This is absolutely brilliant! It's like a turbocharged multiplayer Lemmings. The insanity you get on a 20-player server is hilarious. It really is as crazy as the videos above suggest, but it's better than it looks.

Definitely my multiplayer game of the year 2013!

I will be as brief as I can:


The learning curve will be steep and unforgiving.

Your opponents will taunt you and carve your body to bits after you die.

Lone godlike players will roam the battlefields like titans among mortal men.

Your walls will not hold.

Deep below the battlefield, you will scramble against enemy sappers and die alone in a dark tunnel.

Before falling to your death, you will torch the enemy tower, engulfing the platform and everyone on it in an inferno.

You will push together up the hill and fight for every inch.

Digging a trench before your walls, you will hear a confusion of fighting deep beneath your feet- The second tunnel is overrun.

Trapped in an enemy barracks with their workers battering down the door, you will ignite their powder kegs.

Your friends will be picked off by archers as you all desperately try to reinforce the bridge crossing the river.

Your landmine will decimate the counter-tunnelers in an explosion that shakes the dim cavern you hide within.

You will scramble across a hellscape of ordnance and arrows to die against the enemy's walls.

A lone builder will succeed in propping ladders against the ramparts and you will mount them to cut a swathe through the ranks of archers.

Your friend will pick up a lit keg dropped by a knight and rush to their death against the enemy's doors below.

The explosion will tear through the flag room supports and bring the tower tumbling down on top of you in a cacophony of stone and bodies.



And you will have fun all the while.

There is no other game like it.

If you're the kind of kid who drew little people fighting each other while your apathetic teacher regurgitated his syllabus, you're going to love this game.

Great game. Involves skill & timing. Too many hours spent.

By far one of the most interesting games i ever played , first game that reached 1000 hours for me .


BEFORE YOU BUY THIS GAME READ THIS!
-This game has a quite steep learning curve , just saying so you know what you're getting into.

-Try getting a friend to play it with you , multiplayer is the core of this game.

-you might see in the other reviews someone saying that the game is dead , it is not but it simply is that if you play during a weird time you wont find that many full servers, so be sure to play on evenings when people mostly join.

-Best way to get into the game is to skip singleplayer ( it is complete crap currently , although i heard they will fix it soon ) , go to multiplayer , preferably a CTF server (capture the flag) and ask someone to help you learn the game , people are willing to help (maybe ask me if you didn't find anyone :) ).

-Best way to start is with knight , after you get the hang of him go archer , builder is last since you probably will get criticized for bad base design (ex;bad traps or flag bases).

-Game might look confusing at first and you might die not knowing what killed you , look out for mines/bombs thrown/arrows/spikes.

-Don't expect to find ships on normal games since they are rarely used

-You can fight zombies or nuke people in modded servers , (servers which are blue coloured)

Minecraft has shown me that some people find building a giant fortress very satisfying.

But you know what's more satisfying? Raiding said fortress, finding the plebeian who built it and curbstomping him while you blow up his precious work.

THAT is satisfaction.

This is a genuinely awesome game. There are tons of things you are able to do. Like drilling your way in the enemy base, or use a keg and suicide bomb them from a catapult your teammate used to throw you! You can use shields to glide, or even "surf" in water.

You can play as an archer, feign your death, hide in trees, and use your grappling hook to movearound!
Or you could go builder, and build contraptions and defenses for your base or flags!

The game has alot of replayability as the map is always subject to player interaction. The game runs smoothly in alot of machines but sometimes crashes for no apparent reason.
It's still in beta and looks like a full game.

The amount of content, mechanics is high - but lacks it in customization, the heads, being alot, for females like me are just few less pixels and barely noticeable.
Really great game, with a decent price, although a sale is always a better option!
