The game is good, the admins are AWFUL. They're friends with people in the community, so basically if you tick off the wrong person get ready for a ban from the entire game. What's sad is even the staff members abuse their powers. Well done game, but worst community I've ever been a part of.

Long time players of KAG hold down the community by taking advantage of the game's bugs while failing to share that knowledge with new and existing players.

Let's be honest; the game is based on three fundamental bugs:
1) The character sprites do not correctly represent game mechanics, like angle of attack/dense and the ability to stun or be stunned, etc
2) Lag is king. Long time players know that the visual indication that your character has performed an action greatly lags behind the actual mechanic calculated by the programming. Releasing attacks early is key, and defending even earlier is more important.
3) Stunning? And defending against it? Heck there's no visual indication and scarcely a mention in the tutorials of how stunning players actually works, and "gud" players abuse this against noobs to no end.

Let's be more honest: the game is based on bugs, and held down by a small group of players who have since become admins who abuse their knowledge of those bugs. Is that anyway to run a game, let along build a community?

The answer is obvious; no. Which is why KAG never has more than a single main server running for the EU and the US.

Very hostile and bullying community. New players are team killed and harassed. I bought this game before it was on steam and the community is now dead and infested with toxic sweaty players.

Checked back in and no population, I would recommend to ignore this title. It was a great game before it hit steam.

Not a noob friendly game, the community is absurdly toxic.

Official Server Admins on this game grief more than the players. The game is ran by totally inept people.

KAG classic used to have upto 3500 people playing 24/7. The game was a mix of TF2, Terraria and platformers that took teamwork and sometimes upto 3 hour long games of trying to bust down the other teams base and get the flag. The replayabliity was amazing and the devs even hosted clan war/duel tournaments at its peak.

Unfortunately, like most games now a days: Devs want dat cash monies. They made a buyable beta of a sequel that promised better physics, more machines, better engine and etc. At first, it was way better than original game, but the devs decided to start from scratch again. They neglected the original and took quite a while to make the sequel, so the player base slowly started to die.

Fast foward to now: the Devs did a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ job. The game came out, players felt this remake was unbalanced. Devs had bad PR and no communication, they took forever to make any changes/bugfixes. Community died because of Devs dropping support of the original game. Original game became infested with hackers, and community servers/clans quit after being fed up with the creators. This game is still inferior to the original aside from better mod support.

Honestly, don't get this game. There are literally only 2 servers in the entire game and the admins tend to be groups of immature little ♥♥♥♥♥ whos parents bought them servers. You'll get banned for being better than them or for them just not liking you. The game has no replayability compared to the original and usually end with keg spamming as opposed to a well executed strategy. Also the original Dev abandoned this game and only seems to mention it during sales.

I think the original is still on their website hidden in a url, but its also dead and has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ community as well. It was good while it lasted.

TLDR: Game Sux. Original is better with more replayability. Game is ded. Devs don't care.

I haven't played a whole lot, but the game's pretty empty. On all the servers combined, there was below 30 people on at one time all of today. Generally spread across 4 - 6 servers. Seems like it'd be a fun game if you played around with a bunch of friends and were a little drunk, it's physics and gameplay are very funny, but it's singleplayer isn't worth playing.

Upon joining two different servers I had people flame me for being a noob and proceed to troll me to death, then kick me, so my attempts at multiplayer play weren't all that successful. Another time I was trying to figure out what this weird looking machine thing was, accidentally took something - still not sure what - and had someone spam me to death with all caps death threats - while I was apologizing for being a noob and trying to fix it. They followed me around spamming me for a bit, then kicked me. I was beyond confused for the vast majority of my time on multiplayer, as it's quite different than singleplayer, the tutorial covered absolutely nothing in multiplayer, and there aren't any real instructions anywhere. It's definitely a learn as you go game, which would be fine if people didn't start screaming "Kill yourself" while following you around trolling you when you tried to learn...

Main points:
- Don't expect anything from the graphics
- Don't expect many people to be on
- Expect to laugh quite a lot
- Expect mean or trolling teammates
- Great and stupid sound effects
- Interesting classes, that look pretty neat, actually.

Overall, it looks like a funny game that has the potential to be entertaining for a little while. I wouldn't buy it at full price, there's just not enough to it at this point to warrant the full cost, but if you can snag it on sale for a couple dollars, there are worse games that you could buy.

When I first played this game it was amazing. You'd hop in, have two or three servers near capacity on players, get in with some friends and enjoy the silly play style. Builders would build massive forts, only to have some knight suicide bomb into it and crumble the thing to the ground. While that still exists, sadly the player base does not and I don't really see that changing any time soon. There seems to be a decent following in the EU, but for NA players, you'll find a hard time finding a server with more than 6 people with a ping under 100.

I'd love to recommend this game, it's fantastic and unique and one of my favorite multiplayer experiences I had, but sadly the game is dead. The development stagnated and players lost interest and moved on. If you want to try it, it's availible free on their site and I certainly recommend supporting the developers by buying it, but I don't really recommend it unless you have a large group of friends to get a server going.

King Arthur's Gold is another sad story of an independently developed game that had the potential to become a staple in everyone's library: a resource-lite multiplayer game that was easy to pick up and learn in less than an hour (but master after a few hundred) with a very simple goal and addicting gameplay... yet relegated to obscurity due to a multitude of bad developer decisions that stemmed from lack of experience and arrogance.

After convincing a multitude of complete strangers to join a community restricted server and playing just for fun, I found many people enamored with just how simple and straightforward the game was. There were a number of complaints as to how the game usually flowed and cries for balance, but that's just typical for a strictly multiplayer game.

But then they scrapped the original engine for the one you see in this commercial release.

It wouldn't have been so bad, but the best way I can describe transitioning between the old and newer engine is how it felt switching from Melee to Brawl: one felt tight and responsive, the other felt floaty and imprecise.

Despite community outcries for changing how the entire game felt, they refused to listen and had the gall to say the knew what's best for everyone, while snarkily insulting anyone who thought otherwise. Many people felt cheated, as they bought the game for what it originally was and instead got a different final product.

And so people left.

The community was already divided in two before the engine switch. With the engine update, Premiums decided to move onto the newer game, taking the same servers F2Ps played on with them. And with no place to play on, a huge portion of the community died.

My advice? Don't buy this game, even on sale. There's no worse multiplayer game than one with a dead community. Thanks Geti.

This is a good game! The gameplay is fast and chaotic, while the building is fun and tactical. I would recommend this game; the community however has some growing up to do.

Often new players are banned for "griefing" or accused of doing things they haven't done. The community doesn't care that you are learning the game. Contrary to other games, where other players are helpful and friendly, the community of this game will jump at the chance to ban you from the server for no apparant reason.

Tips to avoid being banned:
-play games in your region (to avoid being kicked for high ping)
-do not play builder as a new player (chances are you will be accused of "digging shops" or "griefing")
-do not mess with fire, bombs, or any other variation of
