Game Fails To Launch

On startup, I get a window titled "Tiny Glade Error," which says: Failed to initialize the steam API: FailedGeneric("NoSteamClient021")
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as booting up another game to make sure it isn't a problem with steam overall. Other game ran fine, seems to be specific to tiny glade.

Same problem here, only happens in Tiny Glade too. I've tested over 15 games and no problems there. I had this same problem with Tiny Glade Demo, but I thought it'd be resolved by the final version. If it's not fixed, I'll probably just refund it. Which is such a shame, seems like a real nice game

Hey, in Steam, at the top of the window, can you go to the "Help" menu, and then "About Steam"? It should open a window for you, and at the bottom it should have "Steam API version:". If it's not "SteamClient021", it means your Steam installation is outdated. Games using outdated versions of the Steamworks SDK will just happen to work then.

Try using the "Steam" menu in the top-left corner of the window, and then "Check for Steam Client Updates..." If that doesn't help, then a Steam reinstall should.

force updating steam by reinstalling and using top left menu (steam -> check updates) doesn't seem to fetch steamapi021

how do I get this game to run then?

Then I'm not sure why Steam would still be outdated - maybe the Steam installer you have itself is outdated, or you're on an unsupported operating system? If everything else fails, try reaching out to Steam support - the "021" version has been around for at least 8 months based on my quick googling of this error message.

Dang, I have an old version of the App that will not update either. Its a shame Steam dropped support for older systems to make way for a flashy web-based app, despite there being games that have much lower requirements.

Any possibility of releasing later on GOG or some other DRM-free store?

Yeah, I'm out of the refund period with the same issue, if it releases elsewhere I'd definitely be interested.

Thanks anyway. I stay un-updated for a reason, unfortunately this is the first game I've run into with restrictions for that kind of thing. Since it's easy to downgrade back I did update to play the game and enjoyed it, made some scenes, tried the cool photomode, love what you all made here. Functional, creative and fun... perfect to fall into a comfy trance since so many smart considerations were made. Steam's update simply misses a functionality I need, so I'm downgrading again... LOL. Appreciate it, I know it's a major edge case.

Hah, I suppose many games use old versions of the Steam API then :o Dang that's annoying that you're then forced to juggle versions, but um... thanks for doing it? xD Glad that you've managed to run it, and that you enjoyed the game :)
