Divinity II: Developer's Cut

Differences between version
So I currently own the retail version of Divinity 2 Ego Draconis and only recently found out that there's also a "Dragon knight Saga" version and this "Developer's Cut" version.

What are the differences between the versions? Is it worth buying the Developer's Cut if I already own the old retail version?

Regarding the different versions:
- The "Dragon Knight Saga" consists of the original Ego Draconis and the addon Flames of Vengeance. Besides just adding the addon Larian considerably improved Ego Draconis in terms of location (re)design and engine-update (+ other stuff).
- The "Developer's Cut" is basically the same as the "Dragon Knight Saga" but with an added developers mode (basically a cheat mode)

If you have played and enjoyed Ego Draconis go ahead and grab the Developer's Cut, in my opinion the addon is totally worth it..

Alright. Do you know if I can use my Ego Draconis saves for the developer cut?

Sorry, I don't know. You can of course start a new game at the beginning of the addon, it will let you create a new character at level 35 (that's exactly what I reached after completing Ego Draconis).
But if I remember correctly you start basically with no equipment (you might get extra gold to buy stuff or you could use developer mode to give yourself better equipment though).

That's awesome to hear, thanks.

Actually, the saves from the original release of D2:ED are not compatible with DKS or D2:DC.

What about the actual difference between DKS and DC? Is there any? Are they the same version of the game with different junk that most people will never care about? (Like the video.)

Does DC benefit from the DKS patch to remove Securom?

Or does DC already have it applied?

This thread seems to suggest that DC is DKS with a few extra patches. (Because the saves are different, but it supports DKS saves and Steam Cloud saves.)

D2:DC didn't have any DRM to start with. It is pretty much DKS with some extra fixes, and an optional Developer Mode cheat window (which can be fun to play around with even if you don't want to cheat, ie teleporting into areas you can't normally get to).

Thank you Raze. And thanks for the 20k+ forum posts and the work you did on the BD Guide.
