R.U.S.E
Bought a steam key!
Bought a steam CD key and it worked perfectly, just had to edit the game user data file to bypass the ubisoft login but now it works and my wife and I can play together, never thought after more than 10 years I'd be playing this game again. Such a shame they took Ruse off the store/stopped updating it, very fun and engaging game, hours go by without even noticing! Imagine Ruse with 2024 graphics, updated equipment, add-on packs, etc. It would be wild!

Nice! though I am a little confused as to where you got it, did you end up using a VPN or spend waaaay too much on it because of scalpers?

Also RUSE is one of those weird strategy games where improving the graphics could be to its detriment if not handled properly, much like the supreme commander series and even to a degree with games like star craft and red alert if the game is modded or goes on long enough the sheer amount of stuff going on combined with the fidelity could bring a lot of computers to their knees and if the engine isn't optimized and maintained well enough it can become a nightmare to work on. The total war franchise has taken the brunt of this type of issue with their current engine which was doing fine up till Shogun 2 and then rapidly became less stable and friendly to work with and became increasingly difficult to run despite not getting all that much better graphically (with reshade or texture packs you can get close to warhammer 3 on Shogun 2 for example and in some cases surpass Warhammer 3 with Rome 2 and Attila) despite the game itself being dumbed down to try and keep things running. It would be really cool to see but at the same time the game runs well enough on an extremely wide range of platforms even mobile now with the later GPD's and runs quite well on a steamdeck or equivalent platform, so having a modern day RUSE would lead to the unfortunate fact that a lot of people wouldn't be able to run the game and many more would see it stuttering and have to play with low settings which would defeat the whole point of having a 2024 version. Plus Eugen has had enough trouble with their own current gen titles that I think pulling off a RUSE 2 or a remaster would be quite the challenge.

I bought off of a key website, seemed legit, had good reviews and people on reddit said it was fine, paid around 100 euro, definitely pricey, but worth it to play my childhood fav game! And definitely would be challenging to make a new upgraded Ruse, but I'm sure it would have lots of new players interested in it!

Oh totally and it could be a good testing ground to push all core loads for video games that could benefit from higher core counts and really stress test them with large unit counts which would be great as right now it's mainly SIM games that are pushing those boundaries.
Do you have any of the DLC? or does it let you buy any of it?

Nothing additional, I have the original game from 2010 and my wife's version is exactly the same.
What exactly did you do to edit the game’s userdata file to bypass the Ubisoft login? That might be helpful for many new players. Could you share the file name and its location? Thank you.

Considering that R.U.S.E. is now abandonware, I’m unsure if the resellers are entirely legitimate, and their prices are outrageous. A patch for R.U.S.E. could potentially allow players to bypass key authentication as well.

It was fairly easy, there was a YouTube video and a large Discord community. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbVg6KeGIGc
