what if your fav faction

what is your #1 fav faction/ country to use on RUSE and why? mine is ITALY because the tanks and defneses are cheap and there armore and firepower are about average.

Japan, it worked best with my gameplay style of using multi role units (a hold over from playing console where unit count was limited, so multi-role stuff like the Flak 88 or Sau 40 gave you a lot of bang for your unit count until heavier weapons became needed later in long matches.)

On PC though I don't have access to japan as I have an archive version of the game rather than a steam or GOG version, I would need to find someone with the Japan DLC and then use their base game files to modify my base game files before then getting the Japan DLC and merging everything together which is never going to happen. So with the nations I can play italy is pretty nice and so is USA especially if you have the super pershings to bulk up your heavy tank formations and their planes are very nice. Germany is the best for me if I am playing support with the jets and long range arty and strong super heavies and AA options letting me assist my team quite well and do so pretty quickly (ignoring the Maus which is slow as hell). But I would say it's Italy if I am playing offense, USA if I am going to be multirole and Germany for defense and support, Japan just barely manages to achieve a good balance of the 3 and would be the top pick if I had access to them on PC.

yeah i remember when japan was released as a DLC on console years ago, the japanese mega arty was pretty fun, but japan is not my cup of tea. italy has always been myi all time fav

I can see why, they are pretty good, some small problems dealing with stuff like IS1 spam but usually they do fine in battles and they are professional zerg rushers.

Still don't have it and I still need to find a way to patch my game files so that it will accept DLC content, I have the super pershing and the special chips (your unit chips have gold stripes on them) which I got through updating my files with the help of another user a few years ago but I still don't have everything setup for the DLC content to be loaded and I don't know exactly what files I need to fix it.

That said if you have a copy of the Japan DLC files then even if I can't use them now I would still have them for later if I ever get around to patching the game which would be awesome. My account isn't private so if you have the files in a google drive or something and don't want to post the link here then feel free to send the link directly (not like there are many people on this forum anymore so posting the link here would probably be fine), it would be much appreciated mate, thanks.

I thought i found it in my RUSE Directory at first, since there is a DLC folder, but i's not the same size than what steam shows (68 Mo instead of 22Mo in the DLC folder) so what I did was putting the entire RUSE folder with the DLC included so you can see if there is anything different with your copy

It didn't end up working, even overwriting all the files just creates an error as it tries to look for the game in my steam library lol but I put my steam.dll back into the ruse folder and I am still able to play the base game and use the super Pershing and Normandy map. Only one weird thing happened and that is that the 8 player maps have their icons and text missing on the map selection screen. Thanks for your help mate.

ok that's odd. I'm pretty sure I once saw somewhere a cracked version with japanese dlc id didn't keep the link but at least there are options like these

The DLC were "cracked" but when they got published the guy who did it, R something (Reloaded I think is the player name, but I can't quite remember), forgot to publish them with all the files AND forgot to update the cracked game version so that it would accept the files, as it so happens the archive is the same patch as the crack because he never got around to fixing/updating the crack version. If anyone ever made another crack then I would assume they would make it with all the DLC already in the game files and publish it that way and there are a ton of old accounts on steam that have all those files but to my knowledge no one has ever made a second, updated, crack of RUSE.

Edit: I'll be freaking damned, someone actually posted it to archive.org a few months ago and oldgamesdownload has updated their site to contain it lol, not the same guy, someone named Ezekiel it looks like and seems they might have gotten help from other members of archive. Gonna test it tonight, seems like there might be an issue with the .exe file for this one but I should be able to work around it.

The most popular nation for senior players seem to be USA with SP spamming. In 2 teams, USA and UK.
