Solution to Game Won't Start or Missing d3dcompiler_43.dll

If Chivalry does nothing but sets your status to playing and then dumps you back to STEAM with no message you need to follow directions here for running the UDK.exe

After you have located the UDK.exe run it and it should generate an error message. If you get an error message about a missing d3dcompiler_43.dll then your core installation of Direct X 9.0c is out of date. Installing Direct X11 will not fix this. You will need to head over to Microsoft and grab the end user runtimes for DX9 here:

This will not bother your DX11 installation so just download the setup file and follow instructions. The missing .dll will be replaced or added during installation if missing. This problem also appears to be quite common so I figured I would post the fix here since it's not listed on their forum. The links should prove handy.
