Do you use a Gaming Mouse ?
Well do you?

I am asking because I just picked up the Mad Catz RAT 3 and noticed a huge difference in how easy it is to block and not allow MAAs to run around faster than I can track them with the mouse.

Also, what do you bind to your extra mouse buttons (if at all?) I have 2 mouse buttons + scroll button and attempted to program one button to "feint-block" and I tried to have the other switch to throwable, use it then switch back to primary (with little success so far).

Well, I simply binded my two additional buttons to alternate slash and overhead... I also have a separate button to vary my mouse sensivity, so I can rearrange my playstyle when needed - less for archer, more for third person view.
The RAT is a nice mouse. I personally use SteelSeries Sensei. Regular mice and keyboards are not even good for day to day work imo, unless your work is very light and requires minimal interaction with the machine (like web surfing).

People have a lot of legitimate requests and complaints about the combat system, but they make it sound like it completely lacks any elegance, which I think a regular mouse will not capture. With a good peripheral setup, you can accomplish a lot.

I bind my alts to the left thumb keys and my feint is on my parry, so I can just cancel the swing easily. I use a mechanical keyboard so weapon switching is done with no pressure mouse keys...very nice way to switch to throwing axes. Some of these mice have drivers that you can set to different profiles, so if you were REALLY into CMW, you could set one up for each class or loadout. The alts on the left is nice though.
Gaming Mouses are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I just bind my macros to taunts. I can easily spam KILL THE ARCHERS by pressing a button
If I play on my TV (laying/sitting on my bed) - no.
If I play on my monitor (sitting at my desk) - yes.

I use an MX518. Great mouse can change dpi on the fly, and has extra buttons.
On mine the game defaulted one of the thumb buttons to the left handed swings. Works fairly well in all my games. In Chivalry the 518 has been no execption.

I think Gaming mice/keyboards are a mixed bag though so it pays to do research. Usually Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries make pretty good stuff. But there are hundreds of companies that take a generic suck mouse, then add one button or a stylish skin then try to pass it off as a thousand times better for $80.. Same with keyboards. There are a lot of keyboards that slap a skin on it, or LED's under keys, and call it a gamer's keyboard. Other's will actually do something gamecentric. In the former, you could pit it up against an old tymey 1980's IBM XT mechanical KB that was used in the era of 8-bit DOS (With a couple of converters to go from AT to PS/2 to USB), and lose. Whereas the later might prove worthy of the inflated cost.

If you want a nice rundown NeoGAF has an ongoing thread or two on the subject.

Does a bear ♥♥♥♥ in the woods?
I use a 10+ year old Logitech Trackball mouse, no extra buttons. It's my reliable old friend that I've used the entire time I've been a PC gamer and then some. I've had so much practice with marble mice that I can't use any other kind, at least, until I get a lot of time with it, but why bother now? I like not having to move my whole arm around, just my first, second, and third finger.
Best 8$ mouse. Cobra e-Blue from Amazon. Blue LED lights, 2 extra buttons on the side, 3 lvl adjustable DPI switch, roboust scroll wheel. :boomer:

It's my personal opinion that having a couple extra buttons on a mouse can be extremely helpful in a multiplayer situation. I get 4 swings out of my mouse and its great.

Agreed. I use my side buttons on my Logitech G9 for Ventrilo PTT.
I used to have a cheap mouse that I loved. The right mouse button lost it's spring so I bought a new one. I'm flush right now so figured I would drop a little cash on a nicer mouse. Bad idea. This "gaming" mouse is heavy, makes my hand sweat, and features the most foolishly placed dpi switch in mouse history. Who the hell needs a dpi switch anyway? Ridiculous. I'm too cheap to buy another mouse while I have one that works though. It's a sad state of affairs.
I use a steel series sensei and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it. I would reccomend it to anyone.

If you like the Sensei, you should consider SteelSeries accompanying mechanical keyboard. Mech boards require less pressure per keystroke, which is really great in fast-twitch games like Unreal and saves on hand fatigue. SS makes other keyboards and they are nice/feature rich, but they are soft-mesh underneath, which all wear out fast.

Razer just put out a mouse about a month ago claiming to have mechanical buttons capable of up to 250 clicks a minute. Sounds like a retro shooter's dream periph!
I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ microsoft wireless mouse, and it is utterly useless in any fps, so I just use the gamepad, which sucks less.

One day, I will invest in a razor or something OTT like that.
