People have a lot of legitimate requests and complaints about the combat system, but they make it sound like it completely lacks any elegance, which I think a regular mouse will not capture. With a good peripheral setup, you can accomplish a lot.
I bind my alts to the left thumb keys and my feint is on my parry, so I can just cancel the swing easily. I use a mechanical keyboard so weapon switching is done with no pressure mouse keys...very nice way to switch to throwing axes. Some of these mice have drivers that you can set to different profiles, so if you were REALLY into CMW, you could set one up for each class or loadout. The alts on the left is nice though.
If I play on my monitor (sitting at my desk) - yes.
On mine the game defaulted one of the thumb buttons to the left handed swings. Works fairly well in all my games. In Chivalry the 518 has been no execption.
I think Gaming mice/keyboards are a mixed bag though so it pays to do research. Usually Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries make pretty good stuff. But there are hundreds of companies that take a generic suck mouse, then add one button or a stylish skin then try to pass it off as a thousand times better for $80.. Same with keyboards. There are a lot of keyboards that slap a skin on it, or LED's under keys, and call it a gamer's keyboard. Other's will actually do something gamecentric. In the former, you could pit it up against an old tymey 1980's IBM XT mechanical KB that was used in the era of 8-bit DOS (With a couple of converters to go from AT to PS/2 to USB), and lose. Whereas the later might prove worthy of the inflated cost.
If you want a nice rundown NeoGAF has an ongoing thread or two on the subject.

It's my personal opinion that having a couple extra buttons on a mouse can be extremely helpful in a multiplayer situation. I get 4 swings out of my mouse and its great.
Agreed. I use my side buttons on my Logitech G9 for Ventrilo PTT.
If you like the Sensei, you should consider SteelSeries accompanying mechanical keyboard. Mech boards require less pressure per keystroke, which is really great in fast-twitch games like Unreal and saves on hand fatigue. SS makes other keyboards and they are nice/feature rich, but they are soft-mesh underneath, which all wear out fast.
Razer just put out a mouse about a month ago claiming to have mechanical buttons capable of up to 250 clicks a minute. Sounds like a retro shooter's dream periph!
One day, I will invest in a razor or something OTT like that.
