The main problem in 3rd person is that the crosshair is not accurate most of the time as archer, it is accurate however in melee, so you can parry just as in 1st person. Just don't think that pressing RMB is an instant block, you actually have to calculate when the enemy will strike and aim at his weapon.
However I switch between the 2 views when I feel the need with all the classes. Just a bind on my Razer. 1st person is useful but I feel 3rd person is better in most situations. I guess it depends heavily on the weapon you're using, try using the maul in 3rd person for example, it's way better. Dagger spamming however is better in 1st person because the range is very short.
Oh and with the 3rd person you actually see better where your swings/overheads goes (especially with Two-handed weapons), so it's easier to adjust your moves while attacking. You also have a better vision of your environment.
Finally, I play this game since quite a long time and I have a good k/d in most games. It's not just the beginners that say that 3rd person is better. Actually I think it's more a matter of taste, but the 3rd person view feels better to control your attacks and where the enemy are coming (hell it helped me many times when fighting 3 people at the same time).
Your assuming a lot of things just to end up with : 1st person is the way to go and I got experience.
lol
I have been playing and practicing with quite elite people. People who have spent all their time practicing and trying to get past people's blocks.
And just saying, experience DOES say a lot about people. Yes, you may have better views of your surroundings, (Like I said in the post) but you will NOT of people who know how to get through blocks.
The only way to block them is to see their attacks up close.
And I wasn't talking about JUST Dagger-spamming.
I am not just assuming, sir. I know what I am talking about....Well, mostly :D
I didn't say it was easier, read carefully, I said you can block in 3rd person just as good as in 1st if you know what you're doing.
You don't need to see upclose to wonder if the enemy is going to attack or not. Just look at your enemy, it's not that hard to tell when a strike is coming to your head.
And I know you weren't just talking about dagger spamming, but since dagger spam is mostly about stabbing (archer bonus), I took that as an example.
i want to see some servers dedicated only to gamepad (diferent experience)
Pro tip for you and everyone else doubting first person...
Crank up the FOV to max. That's how the tournament players do it. These Steam forums are full of casuals who barely touched this game when it as a mod, if you want real experience you have to go to the source. Official forums also have competitive vids you can check out for how to thwart 3rd person players because there are in fact weaknesses to the playstyle that are not present in FP and you can exploit them.
Attacking technique, or blocking technique?
However, I don't want to drag out a lengthy argument, so I'll just leave it with the statement:
We should play together, someday.
