3rd Person vs. 1st Person- Take it from a seasoned veteran
I've noticed that recently a lot of you not-so-experienced players have been telling people that the only way to play this game is in 3rd Person.
Mostly because of how well you can see your surroundings and attacks coming from each side.
However true this may be, and I will admit that 3rd Person has it's advantages, It's still not the only way to go.
1st person helps with aiming. Aiming= Not only just using the Archer, but more of being able to block close-up attacks, usually from small lessons. Even then, it's hard to tell Slow-drags and fast-drags when you're not looking at them up-close. BUT especially with stabs.
You'd be surprised how hard it is to block a stab right in your face when you can't see in front of your body.

In other words; In every aspect of the game, 1st person is the way to go. And you may just think it's my opinion, but it's more than that.
I know this from experience.

I also find it much harder to gauge distances in third person.

1st person isn't the way to go, if you know how to play you can go in 3rd person without any trouble, even parrying in this game isn't that hard come on... And about the stab spam, where did you get that? I can easily see a stab coming even against a dagger spammer. That's quite a weak argument here.
The main problem in 3rd person is that the crosshair is not accurate most of the time as archer, it is accurate however in melee, so you can parry just as in 1st person. Just don't think that pressing RMB is an instant block, you actually have to calculate when the enemy will strike and aim at his weapon.
However I switch between the 2 views when I feel the need with all the classes. Just a bind on my Razer. 1st person is useful but I feel 3rd person is better in most situations. I guess it depends heavily on the weapon you're using, try using the maul in 3rd person for example, it's way better. Dagger spamming however is better in 1st person because the range is very short.

Oh and with the 3rd person you actually see better where your swings/overheads goes (especially with Two-handed weapons), so it's easier to adjust your moves while attacking. You also have a better vision of your environment.

Finally, I play this game since quite a long time and I have a good k/d in most games. It's not just the beginners that say that 3rd person is better. Actually I think it's more a matter of taste, but the 3rd person view feels better to control your attacks and where the enemy are coming (hell it helped me many times when fighting 3 people at the same time).

Your assuming a lot of things just to end up with : 1st person is the way to go and I got experience.

lol

I am deeply questioning how long you've been playing this game if you think that it's not easier to block in First person, no matter how long you've been practicing either.

I have been playing and practicing with quite elite people. People who have spent all their time practicing and trying to get past people's blocks.
And just saying, experience DOES say a lot about people. Yes, you may have better views of your surroundings, (Like I said in the post) but you will NOT of people who know how to get through blocks.
The only way to block them is to see their attacks up close.
And I wasn't talking about JUST Dagger-spamming.

I am not just assuming, sir. I know what I am talking about....Well, mostly :D

Wait,i could bet that there was a badass that found everything easy and that it is RIDICOLOUSLY SIMPLE to see stabs in third even from daggers.

I wouldnt play this game if it wasnt of the immersive 1st person combat. Anyway,I only duel as a Spearman archer and consider myself a real good one and 1st person is the way to go.

1st person is indeed great for this game. However, for myself, deaf person, 3rd person is a must for me to having awareness around me to know what's coming for me.

I didn't say it was easier, read carefully, I said you can block in 3rd person just as good as in 1st if you know what you're doing.
You don't need to see upclose to wonder if the enemy is going to attack or not. Just look at your enemy, it's not that hard to tell when a strike is coming to your head.
And I know you weren't just talking about dagger spamming, but since dagger spam is mostly about stabbing (archer bonus), I took that as an example.

Pro tip for you and everyone else doubting first person...

Crank up the FOV to max. That's how the tournament players do it. These Steam forums are full of casuals who barely touched this game when it as a mod, if you want real experience you have to go to the source. Official forums also have competitive vids you can check out for how to thwart 3rd person players because there are in fact weaknesses to the playstyle that are not present in FP and you can exploit them.

I understand the points you are making, bro. But even though I know that Third person can have it's advantages, it depends on what you're more depending on in your gameplay.
Attacking technique, or blocking technique?
However, I don't want to drag out a lengthy argument, so I'll just leave it with the statement:

We should play together, someday.

Admittedly, when I play in 3rd person in Duel Mode...That's what I do...

It depend on what you started out using, both 1st and 3rd person have their advantages and disadvantages. One who is good in 1st person is usually not very good in 3rd,and vice versa. The main difference between the two is how close you have to get to hit someone and the apperence it takes as both views look and feel different from each other.
