Performing First Time Setup
I have 50 hours into Chivalry, and starting yesterday whenever I try to open chivalry a window pops up saying: "Performing First Time Setup, Step 1 out of 3." Then it is just stuck there, i waited for a while, but it does not move. I know this is not my first time playing chivalry, it just started yesterday and I don't know how to fix it.

I tried reinstalling Chivalry, doing the old trick of going to the chivalry folder and running two applications, but nothing helps.

This is also the case for games like Natural Selection 2.

Help?

Really want to play here.

Maybe go into steam folder and delete or rename the file ClientRegistry.blob

Then restart steam and try again. Sometimes steam messes up an install and 9 times out of 10 this trick will fix it.

Didn't work.

Jesus christ, I tried many solutions, and I can't play.

This seems like it's a steam issue, not Chivalry, try searching forums for general set up problems. Try validating your files in steam properties for the game. Some people are having issues downloading the game, likely because of a huge overload of people, so it could be related to that. Maybe try again a little later.

I think it happend before the overloard, I tried validating, and I tried searching forums, I really don't know.

I've had a ton of weird things crop up in steam over the years. I've had to reinstall steam entirely probably 10 times to fix things. If you want to try that without downloading everything again, just rename your steam folder and then install the client again. Once it's installed, copy your steamapps folder into the new one and all your games will be there and hopefully your woes have ended.

I really dont think that will work, I don't know how to do it and plus copying my steamapps will probaly eat alot of my GB.

I'm not sure what else to say, you can always move the folder instead of copying. I have an issue like this with one game or another, totally random, every few months and I end up having to do this to resolve it. Good luck!

I reinstalled steam (forgot the email so I nearly lost my account) and it still doesn't work.

This is almost as bad as GFWL.

Did I just blow 25$ on a game I can't play?

try deleting/renaming your config folder and revalidating.

i have the same problem i've played 87 hours and never had issues and just after some kind of automatic update yesterday, i am facing the same problem: when i try to play it opens the first time setup screen again installing "microsoft.net Framework 4.0.cmd" (step 1 out of 1)
then it closes and nothing happens afterwards.... i googled it alot and i still didn't find the answer... please help !
