EXCESSIVE FRIENDLY FIRE
I have clocked many many hours on this game, and very recently the game seems to have spawned a new type of player who has no regard for his teammates at all. Previously, new players would come in, FF rates would rise and then they would slowly learn. However, there is no evidence of the problem improving this time around.

The main culprit seems to be wildly swinging vanguards, but they are not alone, and unfortunately it seems to be building the problem as players tire of the continual team damage and start doing it themselves, rather than stamping it out.

My list of noob mistakes im currently seeing too much of, which i feel we should kick for

1) Vanguard charging through teammates, at no point should you be vanguard charging through a teammate, maybe if someone is already condemned (e.g surrounded by 4), then exception can be made but i am seeing far too many just go straight through the back of teammates.

2) Swinging whilst in close proximity. Thats your LMB attack, which with large weapons has a wide arc, whilst teammates are around you, please utilise the other attacks (stabs and overheads)

3) Panic LMB, You are being killed by somebody and then you are saved by a teammate, in sheer panic I have seen people take 1 sometimes even 2 swipes at a teammate. 1 I can understand, but 2 is just too many.

4) Archers. You greedy, greedy people. Far too many arrows in teammates backs. The one that does it for me is when my back is facing you, and I am between you and the enemy, you shouldnt be trying to shoot his arm which is just about sticking out. Percentage chances say that you are going to hit me, which will likely result in my death. So please dont take any less than a 50/50 shot and ideally, just leave us to it especially if we are winning a 1 v 1 and busy yourself killing their archers or taking easier shots.

5) Look carefully at uniform, especially when you are on blue team. Thing is, some players may confuse blood as red team player and chase+attack. Also burned teammates sometimes may be confused as of other faction.
I did this mistake myself at very beggining but now I'm much more carefull, tho still blocking as reflex when teammate swinging near me... (courtesy of sir varg vikernes)

6) Catapults. Please do not fire into areas densely populated by your teammates, take care to choose your shots carefully. Killing 4 of your guys to kill one enemy is really not helping the cause. (courtesy of Al Khwarizmi)

Thats my rant over. Please stop the team damage, as it drags everyone down to that level, and then we can all get back to having fun instead of the huge amounts of rage i see about the team damage in servers

i got a black mason suit (it's quite stealthy), and even though they disambiguated the color scheme, i still get confused for Agathan fairly regularly.

Helpful post
I swear to god, the minute someone gets on a catapult the whole team gets nuked, they fire in directions that jeopardize their teammates. They don't care if their team is densely occupying an area, as long as they see just ONE opponent, they fire at that location. The same applies for oil, someone gets a hold of the oil, and my team is pretty much doomed to incinerate in oil just for one guy. I hate it when I'm done fighting three people, and then the butthole on the catapult fired so late that the boulder literally compresses me and somehow sends me flying.

Well, as for the catapult, I agree. Those who don't know how to handle it right not just launching it at one guy, but somewhere in random location hitting most likely their teammates, lost more than one rounds because of players like this. But oil isn't the same, you can turn it into profit and it's usefull having someone who pours it over and over again. Just surround area where it flows and don't get inside ths zone as also try to hold enemy in this area, when we were doing it with few teammates, we won some games doomed to be failed for us.

Quit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and play the game. This is not CoD, you shouldn't care about K/D. If it wasn't a blatant TK then you should deal with it. That, or just stay the hell out of my way.

Thank you added catapults into original post. Master_Elodin, this post is exactly about those blatent TKs. If you believe we should be "staying the hell out of my way" when we are engaged in a 1 v 1 and from behind a vanguards charges through both players then you are contributing to the TK problem

#4 kind of upsets me. I have only taken shots that I know will not hit team mates and generalizes that all archers aren't careful. I do not consider myself a 'greedy archer' nor ever seen myself as one since I don't normally go for the kill.

I see my role as a supporter and tend to shoot at incoming or defending players and call out the ones I hurt for my team mates. This has saved my team mates lives couuntless times and tipped stuff into our favor.

Reading #4 from your post reminded me of a math on Battlegrounds I had about 2-3 weeks ago. I was on mason and the cart was on our side close to spawn. We had the advantage and I kept popping shots at anyone running across the field.

I saw two knights fighting. When I saw the agathian knight back up a bit and both moved slightly clock-wise, I took a shot and his head popped off.

3 seconds later, the knight rushes over to me and slays me and types this:
"You could have killed me you idiot"
I explained that I take the upmost precaution to not hit team mates and get:
"Look at how many kills you got and look at my score. Let me have some too you greedy archer!"

* looked at scoreboard. I only had 4 more kills but 200+ more points due to assists.

Maybe the tone doesnt come across how it was intended but not all archers are fools. How you described yourself is useful to the team, particuarly if you are pushed up far enough to be contributing towards the objective via thinning out their defences.

I also tried to highlight that i dont mind archers shooting when the odds are in your favour, in your situation where you killed the enemy knight it was probably a 90/10 in favour of enemy damage (potentially higher) , but if you had shot whilst they were still engaged it would be at best 50/50. I have no problem with this whatsoever it is just the ones who are literally hunting a K:D and dont care if they kill you in the process.

My ranting is directed at noobs and idiots, the noobs need to learn to be more aware of surroundings and if they all stop slashing through each other they will all benefit from more enjoyment. The idiots are people who have been playing long enough to know better, but will do it anyway, either because they are fed up with taking team damage or enjoy irritating people from the safety of their keyboard

Heres an Idea. Have an option to disable FF in the first place, it's the only way to truly avoid it with a game like this.

No way. Imagine 3 vanguards LMB spamming all together in a line, swinging through each other. It'd be impossible to get near them. FF is a absolutely necessary.
Quite frankly, if you wear anything other than red as mason and blue as agatha, your absolutely asking to get team-killed. There's a reason most MP games don't let you customize your colors too much. In the middle of combat it can be very hard to tell who is who without a clear color scheme.

Ive killed many a teammate after watching a fight from the sideline and stepping in to save them from that last blow, only to be the one giving the death blow :( ive learned to avoid the catapults completely. Thrusts are the only safe attack around teamates with low health.

very bad idea!

My solution would be to either include a team damage/kill score on the scoreboard so you can see at glance which of your team8s are swinging into you. OR for ever tk you do 2 kills are removed from your score.. At the moment the only punishment for TK is minus score points and being possibly vote kicked.
