Can you alter the algorithm attached to the threshold to a point where it doesn't slow the camera movement but rather stops it from getting faster?
Thing is though everyone has the negative mouse acceleration. Its supposed to be there. You have to find the perfect mouse speed to get the fastest turn speed while swinging. When you find that you can easily do 360s.
It's not an issue of getting a fast speed but rather comfort. I couldn't care less about doing 360s. where is this mod exactly?
A hard cap would be worse in my opinion. With negative mouse acceleration you have a hell of a lot more control and there's a certain skill involved rather than moving your mouse across the screen as fast as possible.
Each weapon type has it's own release speed (you probably already knew this). This value is hardcoded into game and is only altered by TB through "balance patches" and cannot be changed by users (save for hacks good enough for a VAC_Ban)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AroL-S9AXRAndFI3cmM2dzZRX2dFUnNfRWRpcENLa1E#gid=77
Mouse turn of your class character during weapons "release" is also hardcoded and has a maximum "cap" (as you know). This also cannot be altered. (again, change this a expect a VAC)
Modding (steamworks) and operating your own server with your changes is a completely seperate issue.
However, what messes up players timing more than anything is having mouse speed cranked way up + acceleration enabled, causing a feeling of detachment from the movement of your character when not swinging and then the slowing down feel of movement when you strike.
Sensitivity and Mouse Smoothing adjustments in game are exactly the same as the Windows controls for Slow/Fast and Precision Mouse in Windows (as overrides). Neither one of these control "acceleration". All Smoothing does is creates/calculates an linear curve between/of DPI, making for precise movements at slower speeds but requires additional movement of the mouse at higher speeds and the why for mouse acceleration. Some people swear that precision mouse/smoothing produces some lag in games.
I dont like mouse smoothing or acceleration in [some] games, some players do and your brain vs. muscle_motor skills will decide eventually. I wish TB would put a button in as an option to remove it.
So, if you dont need the fancy "spin like a top" when you jerk the mouse around, to try and confuse a few noob players then here is what i would do for best player control:
Go into Windows Mouse and uncheck Precision setting
Go into game settings and turn Smoothing off
Exit the game
Now goto: C:\Users\pc name\Documents\My Games\Chivalry Medieval Warfare\UDKGame\Config
Open UDKInput.ini in Notepad, hit CTRL+F and search, bViewAccelerationEnabled=
Change that value to, FALSE
Go into single player session (no bots), spin your character around in a circle standing in place and then hit a horizontal strike. Now go into settings again and turn sensitivity down (or up) some and then go back into the game and repeat the spin and strike.
Your goal is to make your normal maximum turn speed slightly faster than the maximum turn speed you can acheive when the sword is in release for the average character class weapon you prefere to wield.
However, your maximum "normal" turn speed should not be slower than your comfort zone in play style, footwork and evade
Also remember though, for the strike style that delivers a blow precisely after the windup is complete (at the very start of release), you may want to crank your sensitivity up higher. Positioning/turning for a Parry may also be affected, so obviously to slow (matching your turn speed to a very slow swinging weapon) is not a good idea.
It all depends on which weapon you use vs. sensitivity and comfortable you feel with the speed through whatever controls you use.
Have Fun
