Does ranking mean anything?
I know that you need to killing enemies to unlocking weapons but what's the meaning of ranking up?

Does it increase attack speed or armor?
I am wondering because I saw some high rank players seems they have more attack speed.

Yes, it does.
Every rank you gain 0.2% extra speed and armour.
Obviously, it's not noticeable between ranks.
But by rank 50 you have a substantial bonus of 10%.
The Major is right, you know. One does not simply 1 hit a rank 50 knight with a maul.
some people think it makes your dyck bigger ;)

Don't forget the bonus mana and magical damage boost every 5 ranks.

That only applies to elemental-magic archers though.

Ignore the trolls here. Rank is only an indication of play time, not skill. You can argue that someone with more play time typically is more skilled than someone with less time but it's not always true. Everyone has the same armor and weapons available to them (after all your unlocks are complete, obviously) and even if someone appears to have custom weapons or armor, it's just cosmetic DLC that doesn't affect stats.

Higher level players may be hitting you faster because they're more skilled at manipulating the attack speed of their weapons with their mouse (everyone from level 0 is technically capable of doing this). Speeding an attack up (an acceleration) involves attacking and pulling the mouse into your target whereas slowing an attack down (a drag) involves pulling your mouse away. This is a feature of the game but is somewhat counter intuitive at first.

Some weapons are excellent for dragging (maul, messer, zwei, dane axe), some are particularly good for accelerations (claymore, SoW, norse). Others are pretty good at both (longsword, greatsword). You figure out which weapons fit your playstyle as you play the game.

There're a lot of good tutorials on youtube that're worth checking out. Teripper has a pretty good selection for new people. start here: https://youtu.be/ZFFCL8k1uuU You'll definitely want to start practicing accels and drags as soon as you can but they're going to take some time to use well. Chivalry in general takes a lot of practice and the higher level guys have spent hundreds of hours trying to figure out how to make their attacks deceptive and their defense strong. Don't sweat it if you aren't doing well against them, they started exactly where you are now.

Welcome to the game and have fun.

The higher the rank the less life they have in real life. Rank 50+ usually = about 2000 hours or so. 8 hours a day x 7 days a week x 4 weeks a month x 12 months a year = 2688 hours. Just to give you perspective.

aslong as you swing first nobody is faster, heck i'v had a greatsword outswing my dagger/ short sword and other blades because he got a 2-3 second swing time advantage, armor just changes from class, ETC. that knight your fighting will soak up your damage more then you will soak up his..(unless he has a maul enwhich case, don't let your block/parry fail for even a second when he swings-you won't have much to "absorb" with a shattered skull)
No the mechanics are the same for everyone. More skilled players tend to lean towards the OP classes and weapons and then push the mechanics to their limits. Knowing what weapons do in speed or drags is important. There are a few INI tweaks and macros that can be set up for fast combos and the like. There is also some advanced combat techniques such as CFTP - Combo Feint to Parry and FTP - Feint to parry which can stop an attack so that you can parry then into a riposte. A riposte is a fast attack after a successful parry.
Soviet Onion you are so wrong. Some weapons are simply faster than others. For example: if a maul starts the attack first against a dagger, the dagger can in fact hit the maul player and cancel his attack so that there is no hit exchange. If the maul has released the dagger can still hit faster but then there will be a hit exchange.

That guy said everything you need to know for now. Learn the mechanics and practice. Rank doesn't mean anything. Only surviving skills matter.
