An experienced player at his wit's end (help me understand this)
I have a ton of hours in this game, recently I've come across the following. If any other experienced Chivalry players can help me understand how this can happen, it'll be much appreciated:

1- Enemy begins swing with 1 handed broadsword

2- I see swing coming and lift my block

3- Enemy swing does not hit my block (either misses intentionally or unintentionally, striking at thin air)

4- Enemy combos his previous swing into another strike, such as a stab, WHICH HITS ME BEFORE I AM ABLE TO LIFT MY BLOCK ONCE AGAIN.

My arms are still going down from the previous block and I am in a sort of "flinch state", unable to block again for a second or so, yet the other player somehow is able to combo faster than I can lift my block. With a broadsword, which is not an especially fast weapon.

Is this a speedhack? If not, it seems an utterly broken mechanic.

Well you do have a delay after missing a parry. If he intentionally missed and hit you with the second swing in a combo, that is a basic tactic covered in the tutorial. Is that what you mean or am I misreading?

Thanks for the reply, Peaceful Panda.

That is not the case. If memory serves me correctly, the tutorial covers using the first swing in a combo as a diversion to make the enemy think you've missed, then once he's going for a counter attack, you hit him with the second swing.

In this example, I am always on defense. I did not go on the offensive and open myself up.

People can go around your block, especially with 1h weapons such as the broad. Gotta follow the weapon exactly.

That's not the case either, please re-read what I wrote: My block does NOT go up. It's not a case of him bypassing the block. I am literally still in the middle of the imposed delay before I can block again and he is able to hit me with his 2nd combo swing.

I remember you are correct about the tutorial, that is my mistake.

I do think you should be able to parry the second swing. But there is a small delay after missing a parry, and a broadsword combo is pretty quick, especially the stab. Not hard to miss it considering ping and general wonkiness that takes place in this game. I would have to see a video of it to really have a firm opinion though. Sometimes what you see and what the other guy sees are not the same thing unfortunetely.

that can happen if your first parry is a bit late which makes the second parry late as well.

That's essentially a feint without feinting. But it still costs stamina and is actually a tad more risky for that player. The swing and miss tactic. Has more than one use but for fast 1 handers what you described is a valid tactic. Broadsword is usually a tad slow if you don't parry late.

To combat feints you parry late so their feint hits your parry anyway. But to com it those you have to parry earlier to get a chance to parry again.
