dagger vs knight
hi, i play archer with javelin and thrust dagger. I can duel any class with succes except class. Good knights give me no chance on succes except if im lucky to hit them on range with javelin and even then its death for me most of the time. Tactics are pretty much same always: theygo agressive spam attacks with quick weapon without shield until u run out of stamina and then bam...one hit kill of course. I dont want to whine. They should be more powerful at close against those filthy archers but is there any way how to step up my chances? some tips or link on how ho play dagger against knight would be most welcomed

javelins are the most OP weapons in game, you shouldn't have problems with anything.

If your using thrusting dagger as a secondary then you should be the one to attack first despite range differences and go on the aggressive. Overwhelm him with the stabs and overheads, make spaces in your attacks and see if he'll panic or attempt a gamble. Daggers are easily the best dueling weapons when used correctly, the speed itself can cancel most weapon windups as well as cause enemies to panic block.

Remember with the dagger be aggressive or otherwise fallback towards teammates.
Or like Xylvion said just use your javs for melee, their damage is insane.

Get decent at melee combat then come back to archery. The dagger is one of the hardest weapons to use in game especially on a knight since it takes 5-6 hits to kill. If you're so intent on using the dagger you need to be very aggresive but also know when to hold back an attack and you have to be really good at parrying. Main the shortsword for awhile then try the dagger.

But if you just want some tips that u can use atm.
1. General. Land 1-2 hits run into their face, they WIlL block, hit after parry window
2.(shortsword) Stab into the air just above their head, combo it into ohs. They will try to block the stab that isnt aim at them and go into parry cd. ohs will hit them just as their parry window ends.
3. For shield users. Get in close, run to the left/right side of their body then quickly go to the otherside and attack.
4.For spamers. parry and ripsote.
5. For aggresive players. Run away, turn around, attack. It'll work on noobs and maybe once on higher level players if you're lucky.
6. For claymore ballerinas. Pray lol. Play less aggresively and dont combo after landing a hit.

Theres a lot of stuff i can tell you but its stuff you'll pretty much pick up on your own if you focus on melee combat. Archery is fun but theres not a lot of depth to it.

Get on the offensive if that is happening. You can make distance by sprinting away or giving them a kick, that will put you on the offense. Dragging around the parrying with javs and daggers is, imo, the way to go.

Use the dagger without a shield, riposte, drag around, if you hit them both stop attacking and wait for a panic parry every so often.

Remember, you, as an archer against a Knight have a huge speed advantage with your sprinting straight off thanks to the chase mechanic change.

Keep in mind if both player has the same skills knight will win dagger every time. I honestly don't understand why people is losing to dagger.

Not always true, a lot of noobs can get kills with daggers just thanks to a missed hit causing a missed parry, the follow up will usually be a hit.

I find daggers terribly annoying, especially with a bit of ping.

There are 3 basic things you need to remember in duels.

1.) Its never a race. The guy who is on the top of the scoreboard is always some tryhard VG with a claymore or a 180/360 dragger etc. Take your time. Don't try to finish the match fast as an archer. You will just end up dead >.<

2.) Use the envirnment to your advantage. Fight near trees and in narrow spaces. That will limit the effectiveness of their long weapons. They wont be able to side swing. They will have to use overheads and pokes.

3.) As a jav archer, your shield can be used as a weapon too. Use the overhead bash AS THEY swing and it will usually stagger them in theor wind up. The timing is tight so it takes practice. If you land the shield hit follow it up with another overhead or a stab.

4.) Put your shield away and use your sword at close range. If you parry and then immediately press another attack you will do whats called a Riposte. Its an immediate counter attack. Again the timing is tight. Riposte and stab works nicely. Keep your distance, let them come to you, Riposte and then turn to their back and stab.

'Noobs' will miss their dagger attack then get overhead in the face. Dagger suck because of their terrible range, if they don't get into facehug range they're nothing. If it's maa with dagger it will be more difficult because they're faster but in the end their terrible range will be their downfall.

Honestly I find dagger to be pretty easy to fight against compare to other 1h.

True, but, at the same time with the archers new found speed over Knights, they can get in and out rather easily.
Knight can take a few hits without much punishment while archer can take only 1-2 hits. One tradehit in the head with messer and archer is dead.

Gotta have good aim when you're parrying.
