that said, in a duel, archers are not just boring to fight, they're boring to watch. you're playing the wrong game if you want to duel as an archer.
All, and I mean ALL archer projectiles can be stopped with any kind of shield, both actively and passively. They also have flight times, and sometimes long reloads (On Heavy Crossbow / Longbow+) This to a degree provides an incentive to archers playing up-close (Which is significantly riskier)
They also aren't the fastest class, and literally have no resistances against any damage types. While they are technically faster than knights, the chase mechanic helps defeat retreating archers (Exception being those with a loaded crossbow trying to bait you into running straight at them)
I'd say the most annoying thing about them is that they interrupt fights already going on, sometimes hurting teammates, sometimes not. To me, that sort of the same as a Vanguard with a claymore or a Zweihander, or maybe a knight with a messer swinging haphazardly into a fight in progress.
And while this honestly never happens, the only true uncounterable thing that Archers have that can't be defended against is the arrow-cam. A good archer can effectively scout ahead and call out enemy positions and ambushes in advance, or maybe root out the last surviving person, eliminating divide and conquer plans for smaller teams.
In all honesty, if you find an archer that doesn't miss 80% of their shots with any weapon, and can still beat you with a dagger of a club despite a decent amount of weapons OHKing them, you played yourself.
