As mentioned before the developers were/are chivalry veterans.
The game is different, but skills you learn in chivalry translate over very well.
Drags/accels, parry timing, FTP, footwork, timing in general, feinting, reading, pressuring your opponent, etc etc. Things like that are a huge boon in Mord once you get used to the weapon releases and all the other junk.
It's been and still is extremely polished and playable since Alpha was opened. It's enjoyable, but it's still getting tweaks and all that, I would consider it as fun as Chiv, but it takes a bit more concentration than Chiv, and that's tiring when weapon release times and all sorts get changed every month or so. And when you're dueling like the same 10 or so chiv veterans.
Great game, buy it on release.
