Crossbows
Whats the difference between normal light and heavy crossbows? Besides reload times and what is shown on the tool tip in game. Like what is each crossbows playstyle and what are targets should i be aiming for with each.

Heavy -> Anyone
Light -> Archers, MAA and Vanguards

Light also allows you to stick a tad closer to the frontline and pull out your secondary and assist your teammates if necessary.

Adding to this the regular xbows will one shot archers in the body but only archers.

It also does a tad more damage on the chance that you dont land a headshot.
Light crossbow is pretty much a downgrade from the default xbow. Use heavy if you want to one shot other archers and maa, and do heavy damage to vans and knights but be a sitting duck while reloading, or choose default if you want a more balanced weapon.

Playstyles are exactly the same either way, most archer purists will tell you to use a bow anyway. At least longbow, shortbow and warbow all have their own strengths and weaknesses as well as different playstyles to suit.

Light crossbow reload so fast though, a good alternative to bow if you want to support teammate at the frontline.

Light Crossbow is good if you can funnel people into one spot, like the log in dark forest or a doorway, just spray into it and youre bound to land more than half your shots.

To bad they never added limb damage to the game. Shoot a leg guy moves at a crawl

xbow - one shot archer to body. one shot everyone to head except knight (anti archer weapon)
heavy xbow one shot maa and archer to body. one shot everyone to head(sniper gun)
light xbow. good fo keeping enemies at bay at short, medium range,

use cover everytime you reload even with light xbow

The standard crossbow is best for anti archer. Fastest projectile speed, less drop over distance and one shot's other archers.

Heavy crossbow takes knights and vanguards down to really low health where they will pretty much die to anything else. Kills MAA and archers.

Light crossbow for maximum annoyance. Still deals quite a bit of damage since its a crossbow.
Overall standard crossbow is the best. One shots anything but knight on headshot, kills maa and archers on torso shot.

Targets? You can't possibly think you'll do anything useful for the team camping with xbow and staying in the back. If you prefer camping and being useless to the team, more like a lonewolf, xbows got that covered. Don't try to reach the frontlines, you're dead as soon as you shoot, cuz reloading makes you stationary and an easy target for everyone. Your main focus will be useless targets like the ones far away from objectives, hunting down ballista and catapult users and wiping out other useless xbow archers.

If you're into an aggressive front line attacking or defending, go with javelins. Best for aggressive CQC battles.

If you're into support attack/defending, go with bows. Best for support at any distance.

Standard won't kill MAA on a torso hit.
