Voice acting
I'm well past 100 hours into this game, and am just now wondering, what is the story behind the comical, utterly hilarious voice acting? Did a couple of teenagers and a couple of deep-voiced men just start shouting medieval phrases in a large room or something?

The developers themselves did all the voices. For example, the developer who did the Mason Man-At-Arms (Ryan Patrick Buckley, aka "Sir Loin") talks about the voice acting in the following interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0AuoC_bnDw

01:13 he speaks in the MAA voice
10:21-11:05 he mentions how when the developer doing the Knight voice was yelling "Help" a stranger came into the house expecting to help someone in danger or something.
17:02-17:18 he does his favourite taunt ("Your wife is a hobbyhorse!")
17:18-18:38 he talks about the choice of what lines to script for the voice
21:41-22:30 he explains why the Mason archer is quieter than the others
26:18-27:25 he explains what techniques he used to do the Mason MAA voice
27:25-28:52 he talks about who did the voices and what role they had as developers
31:09-32:08 he explains why they pronounce it "trebuchett" and not "trebuchey"
37:16-37:47 he does another Mason MAA taunt ("You should be women, and yet your beards forbid me from interpretting that you are so!")
38:46-42:03 he explains at quite some length what exactly went into the voiceovers. Like, where they did it, what strategies they employed to get it right, why they didn't go with professional voice actors, what it was like, etc.

Some were devs, some were connected through Buckley, and I reached out in 2010 as an amateur voice actor and long time fan of Age of Chivalry, and ended up doing Agatha Archer and a few tutorials. It was a blast for all involved and it makes me happy that the voices seem to bring a lot of enjoyment to fans of the game!

Oh man, you did agatha archer? I've been looking all over for the credit and had a hard time finding it. You somehow created an artform out of war crying with a comedic bent. Every time I hear it in game it makes me laugh. You are a legend among men, thank you sir. :honorbadge: :blood_angels: :honorbadge:
