Campaign design is frustrating
When I bought this game, the campaign was for me a huge selling point. The demo's first campaign mission is what convinced me to get this game, because it was more or less exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately the later campaign missions were not as satisfying.
I see many people complaining about mission's 2 and 7, I personally dislike missions that totally ignore the economic side of the game, but I did not have as big a problem with these.

What I found frustrating was the missions with time limits and exploration, sure it's nice to have exploration, and it's nice to have time limits, but having both at the same time just feels punishing. I could have accepted if this was a one off or well balanced like mission 4, but mission 8 feels awful to play, with around 25ish turns to fight your way to the purgatory in the dark world, it feels like there is no way to waste any time on exploration whatsoever, especially given how weak Akkard's army is besides the flying mages.

The other thing, and perhaps the bigger pain point, is one of the game's three factions isn't playable in the campaign. The choice to not include even one campaign mission as the Crusade is baffling to me.

I don't regret buying the game and the core gameplay is pretty nice, but i feel I should air my grievances whilst there's still a chance of some re-balancing for the campaign in future patches.
Also put the power hit chart in the encyclopedia please.

Edit: I have finally made it to the final battle on mission 8. My performance earlier in the mission doesn't matter, I am simply handed some premade armies and made to do a puzzle battle. I assume it's possible by completing the forlorn questline to have them, but boy was that frustrating that all that mattered at the end was a puzzle, not my army management, economic management, strategic placement of armies, every other aspect of the game removed so i could focus on... watching 3 autobattlers. Gameplaywise it was well balanced, the 4 omens bug made it a little hard, but I still won. I hate the design of mission 8 more than any other mission.

So far I did not like the campaign at all. Each mission is frustrating

Chapter 1 has to be replayed.

Chapter 2 is a buggy chore mess

Chapter 3 you have to finish it in certain order to get the unlocks

Chapter 4 was in my opinion the worst so far, with confusing hints where to gather the units,
had to replay it, to get the unlocks.

Chapter 5 is bad too, as it does give as main quest to explore the 3 sides, but you don't get the hero unlocked afterwards.

Why did you feel 1 has to be replayed?

Chapter 1 was already in the demo version to play

Campaign definitely bad.
1. Random cards on level up
2. Level caps
3. Taking away hard earned army and replacing with generic crap due to forced storyline
4. Forced to rush

The random cards on levelup isn't just a campaign issue, and yeah you level up so fast it seems silly only having ten levels, it meant they had to restrict it too much in the campaign. They should have had a skill tree, and way more levels. In skirmish you hit level 10 before 10 turns are up half the time.

The campaigns so far (only on 5) have been all about doing things a very specific way. It's boring, but the skirmish isn't much better.

It's just a rather shallow game. Looks nice and has some minimal strategy. The random elements of hitting (power + armor/ward) can make the same fight go very different each time, so save scumming also breaks it.

Hey Comrade Point, thanks for the feedback.

While we cannot change the Campaign's core design at this point, we will bring include the Crusade in our upcoming feature "Scenarios" - challenge maps that revolve around 1 or 2 key mechanics and / or unique storylines.

Check our 1.0 Out Now post to get more info.

Cheers,
Quentin
