This is a big increase in the file size of the current build because it includes lots of new assets, and there are also some new areas you can explore that weren’t available before or were less fleshed out previously. I was originally going to give unfettered access to everything in this build, even rooms/areas that were basically empty, but it was easy to get stuck in places you shouldn’t so I’ve blocked off access to some areas. You’ll see lots of under construction signs if you go exploring though.

What’s New

More Mushroom Marsh to Explore. There is still a lot that is clearly in progress here, but the general layout of the content is all here so you can get a sense of the structure of this domain, and even pick up the Pogostick toy while you’re here.
A bit of Haunted Hollow. You can see some of the Haunted Hollow and check out the Graybox enemies. They probably won’t make much sense right now without their sprites to help convey what they’re doing, but feel free to explore this area a bit and meet Alex, the Guardian of Haunted Hollow.
Captain Sweetbeard & Bon-Bon. Some very important NPCs are now available in the game. Their sprites are still sketched in, but you can meet and chat with them. Good luck finding Bon-Bon!
Palace Observatory. You can view the Pet Statues and some of the constellations, if you can get here. It requires some toys that are in the game, but you likely won’t be able to access them just yet. Once I get all the constellations done, I’ll make sure you all can access this so that anyone with a pet statue or pet constellation can check them out.
Probably More…? This build accumulated a lot of work, so I probably missed some things in here that you have access to that I forgot changed or I just didn’t realize you’d be able to access just yet. There are also some things that were kind of minor so I didn’t call out (check out Mina’s new house for instance).

Known Issues

There was an issue with the MapRenderer in the last build, which should be fixed now. If you encounter any crashes, please let me know!

Side note: if you see these /list commands inline here and weird indentation, not sure what's going on, Steam seems to be having an issue, so just ignore those for now I guess and hopefully they'll fix it.

Pathfinding for Little Buddies Update v0.0.1.20240511

Okay, we’ve got a small one for this update, but I’m pretty excited about this work. The bulk of this update is just new assets being added that you won’t see yet. But here is the stuff that you might notice is new:

What’s New

My Alien Monster: You can now find your first Little Buddy in the Gumdrop Gardens. It’s tucked away in a little easy-to-find spot you’re likely to come across when you first arrive in this domain. It’ll follow you around and you can pick it up to have it eat enemies (some enemies it will spit back out).
Little Buddy Pathfinding Overhaul: Little Buddies now have a much easier time following Nemo around Slumberland. They no longer constantly teleport to you when getting left behind, and instead they will just jump right to a spot near you if they can’t find a safe way there, or if there’s nowhere safe for them to follow along, they’ll hitch a ride on your back for a bit!

Known Issues

I don’t think I know of any outstanding crashes or major issues at the moment.

The big draw of this build is some preliminary areas of the Mushroom Marsh are available again, this time with enemies and hazards. I’ve also tried to address the crashes that were popping up in the previous build (except the Little Buddy pathfinding crash).

There is also a bunch of stuff in this build that you won’t actually have access to, so the build might seem a bit big for what’s here, but I’ll include those in future patch notes once they are actually available to reach in the build.

What’s New

Mushroom Marsh Enemies and Hazards: You can’t explore all of the Mushroom Marsh yet, and what’s there is very preliminary (it’s not all connected and has abrupt dead ends in places that are incomplete), but you can check out some of the new enemies and hazards.
Interface Settings: You now have full control over which HUD/UI elements are overlaid on the screen, including the minimap. There is an “Interface” entry in the settings where you can toggle all of these off and on.
Damage Received UI: When you take damage, we will display how much you’ve received at the point of impact. You will also find an option to disable this in the aforementioned Interface Settings. This won’t seem particularly important right now when all the enemies you’re encountering deal only 1 or 2 damage, but it will become more important to appreciate how much damage you’re taking as you get introduced to damage reduction and more dangerous enemies.

Fixes & Tweaks

Honey Tweaks: Honey is a little more interesting now as you can control how much momentum you have when jumping out of it depending on how long you hold the jump button for. So it essentially behaves much more like your normal jump does when you’re on the ground.
Physics Fixes: Collision between dynamic objects that are headed towards each other should be fixed now. This shouldn’t be noticeable in most scenarios, except the one that I called out in the previous patch notes about the Gelatonne sometimes hitting you from underneath. Now you will always bounce off the top of the Gelatonne.
Fluid Shader Fix: This was something I called out in the previous patch notes as not working, but it has all been ironed out. You can check it out by running/jumping near some of the bushes in the Dreamswept Plains or sloshing through the gunk in Mushroom Marsh.
MapRenderer Crash Fix? There is a crash that can happen in the map renderer that I only became aware of by using it in the minimap. This crash is fairly common, but hopefully I’ve addressed it in this build.

Known Issues

If you happen to find the one Little Buddy that is currently accessible, you’ll notice there are several pathfinding related bugs with Little Buddies. This is a holdover from the previous patch notes. I’m in the middle of overhauling this logic, so the next build should have properly functioning Little Buddies without crashes.
