Why can't I rename characters?

Only promoted characters (not rank-0 units, like Raider / Archer / Warrior / Shieldbanger class) can be renamed. It costs 10 Renown to rename a character. Just go to Proving Grounds, click on desired *promoted* character (e.g. your default "Thrasher") and click Rename. You can give your own names (up to 9-10 letters) or cycle through preset nordic-sounding names.

No prob.

The exact steps:

1. Go to Proving Grounds
2. Click on a promoted unit
3. Click on the "Scroll & Quill" icon (bottom-middle of screen, next to kills counter)
4. Here you can Rename, Recolor or Dismiss*** a promoted unit.
5. Click on Rename, type your desired name (or cycle through random/default ones) and finally confirm the change at the cost of 10 Renown.

***You should never Dismiss a unit; you get no Renown back for that; do it only if your Barracks are too crowded.
