Him teaching you how to kill was just a dream, the main character is in a coma for more than half of the game; that's why the same guy works at every store and you start seeing dead people walking around after certain levels.

My friend said that in his coma hes reliving things he did so would the part where he teaches you to fight just be something his mind made up and the part where you kill him is a part of his memory he is reliving?

Basically, yeah. You found out where he actually learned to fight in Hotline Miami 2.

Looking around this thread, I haven't really seen anyone say why Jacket actually killed the hobo. Maybe it was revenge for "corrupting" him or just his sudden inner bloodlust.

The hobo probably just got mad at him for being in his alley, now I wanna know why you vomit after killing him.

I think it'd have something to do with Jacket's unstable mentality at the time. You can tell throughout the course of the game he becomes less fettered by the people he kills, almost as if he's becoming gratified by it. Maybe during that point, he was still getting used to killing things? I'm not sure, as I haven't played HM2.

I heard he was a soldier in that game so it wouldent make sense that he vomits after killing the hobo since he killed before
The theory on the internet is that he killed the hobo for being too close (physically) to his target, and that he (Jacket) vomited because he (the hobo) was innocent and just defending himself, whereas Jacket already hated Russians and enjoyed killing them, he had his reasons for those deaths.

Have you played the second game? In my opinion, he always see's the same person (orange-bearded man) at the convinience stores because he keeps reliving his past; his experiences as a soldier in the Russia-America war. In Hotline Miami 2; power plant mission you play as the orange-bearded man in which saves a random soldier wearing a 'Jacket'. The same Jacket the character in Hotline Miami 1 wears. This means your character in Hotline Miami 1 feels indepted to his savior and that the war is not over for him. Thats also why at the end of the game when your character throws a photo off the Russian Mafia's Mansion balcony, the photo is of him and the orange-bearded man that saved him. I know this because in Hotline Miami 2 after you save him (playing as the orange-bearded man) you take a photo together before advancing back into the training barracks. This means your character in Hotline Miami 1 feels the war isn't over, and thinks until he kills a certain amount of Russians, the war then is finally over.
