I built him as a somewhat passive support the first time around. Meaning edge of dawn and deterioration. Then leaning into enfeeble and vanguard. In the end it was all a bit moot as he ran around the map oneshotting things with the sanctic blade and infinite charges through a pair of boots iirc(provided he did manage to oneshot). So still kind of ended as melee dps.
Sanctic and biomancy make for a strong healer combo, but like you said, you don't really need it.
So apart from melee dps and tanking in some form there isn't really a whole lot heinrix can do. But he can do both those things very well. Santic is either defensive or geared for hitting hard ...once. (hammer of the emperor). And it's kind of the same for biomancy. Tons of heals but also a lot of damage from toxic and enfeeble.
What you can maybe try is to go some kind of shotgun pistol build. Warrior isn't all that great for non melee, but you could use crowd kill, opening strike and easy target to hunt supports/ranged? You could do WS+BS, the lack of STR could be offset in combat by iron arm I suppose. Then go into arch militant (stick with the base stance) and focus on crit damage and prone interactions.
The biggest problem with that though is going to be enemy dodge. You cna get a bunch of tanky talents but you will have low perception and will be missing out on the solider AOe buff that reduces enemy dodge. I suppose you can still do fine because you don't really loose all that much in the melee department even if you miss, but it's going to get annoying to miss those aoe attacks due to everybody dodging.
You would NEED other character to make up for that. Idira can make this MUCH easier for example. Even then....it's basically the same strategy, except using a shotgun instead of a two handed melee. Charge in, get bonus damage, then let 'er rip...only with a bit more crowd control and AoE
Tanking and healing is okay'ish. I could use him as a strong obstacle with nice claws to do some dmg. I think this is one of best options for now. But...
I've just found build idea for Pyro Chainsaw Interrogator - seems pretty okay. Most probably I will go for this one, though it looks like hit or miss thing. Might work great, or might not work at all. I guess I either want him very OP or dont want him at all ;-P. So: Orchestrate flame, body of flame and so on.
The other path I thought of taking him was as a pyromancer.
The unspoken rule especially when it comes to demolition and tech use.
Some direct comparison for you https://youtu.be/Y_-H_2aPMzM?si=QbSKKO4tMFLkvGii
It does less thhan normal melee hits
I made him into a pyromancer tank and he is awesome. In fact he is now my number one on the battlefield.
