Anyway, just travel back and forth in the orange/yellow paths and hope you get that random event where they give you insights after passing a check.
I managed to travel to a different star system with deadly results anyway and it gives you a fight with chaos along with some hull damage to your ship but it's still doable,
I'd recommend just saving NP for finding new areas that are out of the way and once you feel you got a decent supply then start making routes to your colony safer.
Also, save up your melta charges only for exploration they are surprisingly rare for some reason.
It's my first playthrough, so I'm doing this stuff blind.
Online guides are practically useless, and don't have any truly in depth information.
While I'm avoiding let's play videos because A) I'm trying to avoid major spoilers, and B) because they are most likely not going down the playthrough options that I'm aiming for.
Also, I spent 3 insight points to make the path from Foothold to the Imperium safe, only to find out that it still gives me an automatic game over if I try to viist.
Do you have anything specific you could clarify? I'm getting events, but I don't know which options to pick for me to get navigator insights.
2. Random warp encounter that has Navigator dialog gets you 3.
3. Random warp encounter with Lore(Warp) check gets you 6.
4. Make a deal with House Orsellio during meeting on Dargonus gets you 15. (Don't make deal with Cassia she gives you nothing).
5. Rescue Navigator from Gutted Voidship in Mu-Rho 79 gets you 10.
Only green the main routes of Travel you are using. Take an extra hop if needed to avoid wasting Insights on red paths.
Well damn, there's another big mistake on my part.
Keep it yellow or below, because you will be given skillchecks that are basically free exp.
Only go green if you want to gimp yourself.
I got it once where it was random event traveling through an unsafe distance and i got an option to trust my navigator which gave me one navigator point.
If you look very close on the map it's faint but sometimes there's small red lines that I believe you can use to travel to a new system and as long as your in a new system you should be able to chart new paths to get navigator points.
It's pretty bad as it can give the impression of softlocking the game but unsafe is mostly fine you'd just get some flavor text and occasionally some minor ship damage.
I can't say i'd recommend dangerous or deadly for farming as it gets tedious fighting chaos with little gain on the ship. Hopefully it gets address later as you're not alone it's annoying to wait for RNG to give you the event and then rely on a skill check for like one Navigator Point.
Try again and if the grind's too tedious maybe call it and start again.
Below yellow IS green. You're thinking of orange.
Still now I have a whopping 45 Nav insights in Act 2 LOL, just journey around nets you random events that give you 4 Nav Insights each, now I can green EVERY part of the main route, but me not wanna.
Having a nice, clean "super highway" from Footfall -> Janus -> Dargonus (crafted a direct path and I made one from Janus to Kiava Gamma too) speeds up colony stuff, but that's the only thing I would bother with. I even wasted a few early on and still have 8 or 10 left with the entire map explored.
I only made the main route connecting my worlds green, tried to make some other routes yellow, and eventually had to use orange routes. This felt/feels okay for how the game progressed for me.
