How Do I Get More Navigator Points?
I think I messed up. I seem to have burned out all my navigator points that are used to open up new pathways to distant worlds, and yet I've explored all the current worlds I am capable of traveling to.

This means I can't reach some of the distant areas that are associated with new quests, such as Grantis which is about to be invaded by a Drukhari raid if I don't intercept them!

How can you even run out of Insight point? Do you just randomly open up paths outta nowhere instead of following already connected paths?
Anyway, just travel back and forth in the orange/yellow paths and hope you get that random event where they give you insights after passing a check.

Yeah I ran into a similar problem in act 2. At best there's traveling back and forth through unsafe to dangerous pathways and hoping you get a RNG event with the navigator that gives you a skill check to gain one.

I managed to travel to a different star system with deadly results anyway and it gives you a fight with chaos along with some hull damage to your ship but it's still doable,

I'd recommend just saving NP for finding new areas that are out of the way and once you feel you got a decent supply then start making routes to your colony safer.

Also, save up your melta charges only for exploration they are surprisingly rare for some reason.

It's my first playthrough, so I'm doing this stuff blind.

Online guides are practically useless, and don't have any truly in depth information.

While I'm avoiding let's play videos because A) I'm trying to avoid major spoilers, and B) because they are most likely not going down the playthrough options that I'm aiming for.

Also, I spent 3 insight points to make the path from Foothold to the Imperium safe, only to find out that it still gives me an automatic game over if I try to viist.

Yeah I made the same mistake in my game, didn't realize they'd be such a precious resource and spent them very poorly, now I have nothing left to do in act 2 but find where a dark eldar raid is supposed to happen and intercept it, and I have no way of doing that without grinding up some points.

Do you have anything specific you could clarify? I'm getting events, but I don't know which options to pick for me to get navigator insights.

1. Scan routes in all systems gets you 1 for each system.
2. Random warp encounter that has Navigator dialog gets you 3.
3. Random warp encounter with Lore(Warp) check gets you 6.
4. Make a deal with House Orsellio during meeting on Dargonus gets you 15. (Don't make deal with Cassia she gives you nothing).
5. Rescue Navigator from Gutted Voidship in Mu-Rho 79 gets you 10.

Only green the main routes of Travel you are using. Take an extra hop if needed to avoid wasting Insights on red paths.

Well damn, there's another big mistake on my part.

I would argue you should NOT green any part at all.
Keep it yellow or below, because you will be given skillchecks that are basically free exp.

Only go green if you want to gimp yourself.

I get tired of the fights. I have only had the Navigator events pop once each and had stupid Warp incursions probably a dozen times. I'll make the main routes green and leave some routes yellow if I need to go farm.

I got it once where it was random event traveling through an unsafe distance and i got an option to trust my navigator which gave me one navigator point.

If you look very close on the map it's faint but sometimes there's small red lines that I believe you can use to travel to a new system and as long as your in a new system you should be able to chart new paths to get navigator points.

It's pretty bad as it can give the impression of softlocking the game but unsafe is mostly fine you'd just get some flavor text and occasionally some minor ship damage.

I can't say i'd recommend dangerous or deadly for farming as it gets tedious fighting chaos with little gain on the ship. Hopefully it gets address later as you're not alone it's annoying to wait for RNG to give you the event and then rely on a skill check for like one Navigator Point.

Try again and if the grind's too tedious maybe call it and start again.

Keep it yellow or below,

Below yellow IS green. You're thinking of orange.

I mean, I consider green the positive (+), anything else is minus (-).

Still now I have a whopping 45 Nav insights in Act 2 LOL, just journey around nets you random events that give you 4 Nav Insights each, now I can green EVERY part of the main route, but me not wanna.

Having a nice, clean "super highway" from Footfall -> Janus -> Dargonus (crafted a direct path and I made one from Janus to Kiava Gamma too) speeds up colony stuff, but that's the only thing I would bother with. I even wasted a few early on and still have 8 or 10 left with the entire map explored.

I never upgrade routes to safe. All my routes are unsafe. You can get some random events this way.
vamirez Dec 30, 2023 @ 5:14am
Interesting, I am in act 4 and I never even once had an event that gave me nav points.

I only made the main route connecting my worlds green, tried to make some other routes yellow, and eventually had to use orange routes. This felt/feels okay for how the game progressed for me.
