Lucius: Lag, Low FPS, Frame Drops, Stuttering Fix
For reference, I'm running windows 10 with a Ryzen 5 3500U iGPU, 12gb DDR4 RAM. I have had no similar issues with other games, and manage to run Fallout 4 at a consistent 40-60 FPS at moderate settings.

There are a few posts that describe this problem, which makes the game completely unplayable. I have finally found a fix. The summary of the problem is that I was having FPS endlessly flux between 10-75 FPS at any and all resolutions and graphics settings. I experimented with all graphics card options and in-game graphics options with no improvement.

I accidentally discovered that I have zero issues with FPS or lag if using keyboard and mouse instead of my Xbox One controller. The solution in my case was to copy and paste dinput8.dll from my DirectX folder directly into the lucius game files folder: Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lucius

Here is a thread regarding Mini Ninjas, which I originally got the idea from. My Xbox One controller was also not working with Mini Ninjas, but adding this was an instant fix:

Conclusion: I'm now able to run the game with controller in medium or high graphics settings with 1920x1080 resolution without stuttering, lag, and a consistent FPS between 40-60. Please try this solution if you're having a problem. I couldn't find a solution anywhere, and this, at least for me, seems to be it.

Do you think this could work for a more modern game too? Crash N' Sane has the exact same issue and this fixed this game right up.

I am just curious about this post, was it an orignal xbox controller or another one? i ask because of the statement you made..a controller making such a terrible things...

have you tried different drivers? might work..and worht a try if you find a fixing one. i had simliar problem with an rtx driver 496.49 for my gtx1660 ti which made not a performance problem but another one whcih also ended up in unplayable game when reverting to another driver that game works fine.

if the method above does not work, try this. 1 press the window key. 2 search for grahics settings. 3 select browse. 4 find lucius.exe and set to high performance

Thank you for sharing your idea. I was playing with a fps rate between 13 and 60.

By adding the dll you mentionned, the situation was stabilized, and I now play with a rate between 43 and 51.

Far rom being perfect, but the game is playable at least :)

GC: rtx 370ti
CPU: I7 11700K
