Crook vs Rogue
The general consensus I've seen from browsing random threads about dodge builds is that nobody uses Crook, everybody uses Rogue. Why is that? It looks like Crook has a higher total dodge chance than Rogue (30% for Rogue, 45% for Crook).

Or am I misunderstanding the mechanics behind dodge?

It's because the LBV for example has negative base dodge (-20%) while the Suit has 10% base dodge. So while the Crook Deck gives more dodge than the Rouge Deck, the Suit base dodge has more than the LBV.

Crook only works with Ballistic Vests (other than the first perk) Which have a lower Base Dodge than the suit does.

Rouge works with any armor (technically...), but because of the Light Vest's lower base dodge the suit is better

Rouge also comes with a better end-perk of Weapon Swap Speed.

The only advantage Crook has is that you can use it with a little armor. That little armor is completely worthless on Death Wish though, and Overkill is too easy for it to matter much in the long run.

Yeah, it have more dodge, but for ballistic vest only. Vest also have penalty for wearing it, i guess -20. This means that rogue have more dodge+awesome passive bonus for weaponswapping. If you have talents in fugitive for vests you will have more armor and recovery, but it`s insignificant.

Rogue is used for suits and Crook is used for ballistic vests. Rogue has more dodge with suit than Crook with light BV. Rogue has faster weapon swap as well. Overall, armor on DW is sh*t so if you were to use crook maybe you'd survive one or two shots more (depending on skills and what kind of ballistic vest you use), but if you plan going high into Technician and getting Bulletproof and Thick Skin from 1st tier of fugitive then Crook isn't so bad. I recommend grabbing Rogue and not using stoopid armor at all like all these newbz who farmed their infamy on Shadow Raid or Hox Breakout instead of playing normally.

If you are running a Fugi-Tech build and have bulletproof,Crook perk deck can be awesome; That little buffed armor really helps when RNG screws you and bullets actually hit you

But,yes,Rogue actually gives you a higher chance to dodge than crook due to the negative dodge stat that the LBV has

Ah thanks. I didn't realize vests have negative dodge modifiers.

A Master-Fugi with maxed out converted cops and Hostage Taker can do the same thing, just that he trades "more armor" for "regenerting away any healthdamage".

Yup,but sometimes you need C4 in a team;and if someone loves playing a dodge build but still bring c4,that build is the optimal one imho

Using Crook, do not have a bad opinion 'bout them, just that .. it just does not work properly for me (even with 50% +25% Dodge with Rogue) - dodge sometimes hates me.

Using HBV. o_o

That's an entirely different, more specific situation.

I just love the sound of Crook.

And always have favored LBV. I usually play TechForcerCrook. Aced Ammo + C4 and Bulletproof aced. Objective runnerbuild. (armor regen + dodge + nerves of steel is nice)

I can see Bindal's setup work as well. It's just not my cup of tea.

The 80% faster switch between weapons is just too good compared to the crook one.
but crook is really good with a FugiTech build because you can reach 35 dodge and 75 armor.

Crook is good for FugiTech, but that's a totally different setup than classic dodge builds. Those using Low Blow + Sneaky Bastard are better with Rogue, not only for the better dodge or 50% faster switch, but for the better concealment (because with Crook you need to spend 19 more points to Ace Low Blow + Sneaky Bastard, and Thick Skin as well).

Actually, with Crook, you only spend a total of 5 points to be done with Fugitive: Thick Skin and you're done. Everything else comes from other trees and their skills in some form.

I've always been intrigued by Crook....& it looks like this thread attracted the Crook experts.

How does this look btw?
