Pure melee build viability
With the new perk deck coming out, just how viable would a pure melee build be? Does anyone have any specific builds?

It's not viable for melee. You get 1 weapon(Trench Knife, or Nova Shank if you don't own the Historical Pack) for the entire heist.

At best you will be doing almost 1,000 damage per second, but you have to be right in front of the target meleeing with no noticeable health, living purely on armor. The 20% damage reduction is not going to help you very much(especially when Crew Chief, Armorer, Muscle, and Hitman will help more with their strengths).

There are better options in guns that kill faster, and from distance/cover.

This isn't Killing Floor.

Maybe if cops' melee doesnt slice down your ICTV+Bulletproof armor to shreds after a single hit from it,EVEN IF NOT IN DW,melee wouldnt be so horrible?...

Underdog aced is, believe or not, actually bugged so you take more damage rather than reduced damage. Its been bugged since the beta from what I understand.

wait underdog is bugged??? that might explain a thing or 2... does anyone know if fully loaded and walk in closet got fixed?? wouldnt mind seeing a big fat patch to fix stuff like this, and tasers broken range. mb oversell will make a patch dlc xD 10 bucks to fix the majority of bugs lol

also i can see it working on overkill just fine, but on dw im not sure.... i kinda like to keep dw cops at a distance not get up all in there faces xD

I doubt melee will ever be a viable tactic in this game. Even on normal, being melee'ed by a blue swat is enough to send your character reeling with your screen flashing red at you. Damage can be reduced via Martial Arts Aced but you are still going for a blind flight. Cops are just too far superior at melee. It has been - and will remain - only truly useful for finishing off near dead enemies, nudging a cop closer to the domination point or goofing off against the occasional lone officer when the assault wave retreats.

Wouldn't sacrifice the use of the Armorer, Muscle or Rogue perk decks for what will be a gimmick.

Is it confirmed that "strike" in the description means a hit and not a kill? Sounds to me like this could be yet another case of loose translation and/or misunderstanding.
Not that it would change much.
Hey, that's what I say. Still pretty much the same anyway. You can even shoot once, then hit.

Yes. The code will not change for that. So players will get hurt the same way.

Cops deal damage by shooting at you. When you get shot, there is a short but significant amount of time ("resilient time") where all hits with a damage value below the last hit you took will not hurt you at all (like if you were dodging it).
But the values used to compare with the damage threshold, are made not with actual damage from cops, but the damage with applied reduction bonuses. If you get a damage reduction by 3 cops&more or from bonuses at a certain distance, as soon as it wears off, hits with increased damage are going to pierce through the threshold and put you down. Not every ennemy is at 15 meters from you too.

Like Underdog Aced, this skill tree is useless due to :overkill:'s code.
Don't take it.
Quick story: this code is here since Beta. It's part of the PD2 gameplay.
The mistake here is the skill and perk deck, not the actual code. (well it could redesigned to work with the code)
